Do You Pop Zits?

My mom pops my stepdad's zits... He does the same for her... Growing up my dad would attack our faces if he saw a zit he could pop... I know a lot of people do, but all I can say is... eeew. I don't have a problem popping my own, but I DON'T like having other people pop them for me, and I flat out refuse to pop for anyone else... Luckily my fiance has the same thoughts as me... I was just wondering if we are the exception or the rule. :P

What can I do next?

That is soooo gross! Unless you are a certified aesthetician, you have no reason to pop anyone elses' pimples! I would never do that to anyone else--thats so wierd!~

To me it's like "Ha! Victory!"

I also peel off sunburned skin, stitch myself up from time to time, and find surgeries absolutely fascinating.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your question, and I'm surprised at some of the responses who voiced their disgust with the question. There are all kinds of questions on here - there are guidelines, yours doesn't violate any of them, and honestly, we can pick and choose what to respond to and what to just move on from.

To answer your question: yes

My own, yes. I don't get them often and I know you are supposed to leave them alone, but I want it gone so I do pop. And, like Riley, it is my own little victory! *giggle*

I think I have pretty much gotten too old for zits (age has its benefits, I finally found one), but my husband used to die for the opportunity to pop my zits. If he had one, he would beg me to get it for him and I would cover it with a wad of toilet paper and and then hope nothing got on me, if I even agreed to do it at all.

yuck. I've had someone pop 1 zit for me, it was a hugely painful one on my back, so I obviously couldnt reach it. I hated it, and I would never be able/want to pop someone elses! Gross!

I usually use a hot/warm washrag on my daughter or encourage her to, first. Then if all else fails, I use Q-tips and alcohol. She had one in her ear once and that was hard to take care of.

Ha. I had to click on this question.

Yes my husband pops his zits AND MINE. I am just not good at it and end up having a huge scab on my face. My husband is better at it and likes how thankful I am for his help. I am slowly learning to do it on my own, but sometimes there are those stubborn ones that need his expertise. He will occasionally ask me to pop one of his that he can't reach (on his back) but half the time I can't get my fingers right to get it all out.

Ha. So yes - in my opinion you two are funny for not helping eachother out. But to each his own. I do often wonder when my hubby's popping mine if he looks at me funny or gross. But I guess if he didn't want to help me, he'd tell me no.

So you don't want me to tell you stories of assisting with opening and draining cysts? Hehehe like a HUGE zit, and the stuff exploded everywhere. Here's my deal, no one can touch my face but me. I hate for my face to be touched, zits or no zits. But if I have a zit on my back you better believe my boyfriend is going to get it. My skin is sensitive and just my clothing rubbing across one is irritating. He gets the same way. Our faces are our own domain. =)

Those of you who thought this was an inappropriate question, grow up! Zits happen. It is a part of life. Why is asking this question any different than someone asking about their periods, sex life, domestic violence, or my favorite, their kids poop! No one should be ashamed or scared to ask a question on this blog. The standard is to ask questions in a respectful manner, Christina did. Get over it!

I'm a popper. My son gets zits on his back and I attack them with a vengence. I do not touch his face.

I totally agree with you, Christina. Pop your own, leave others' alone. Ew! :) For those who are in a relationship with another and they BOTH agree to pop for each other, that's fine. I just don't like others doing it for me or asking me to do it for them. lol

Actually, the above answer was for FACIAL zits. For zits on the back or hard-to-reach places, we help each other out. I just don't like my face messed with - its the same reason I don't like dentists: other people's hands in my mouth is annoying.

OMG!! I LOOOOOVE IT!! I know...so weird right? I used to beg my husband to pop his...til he finally told me he didn't like it...apparently it hurts. ; ) But occasionally he'll let me do it still. I wouldn't pop just anybodies though...but I would probably see them and want to.

People are so silly - this is a perfectly fine question. If you can't deal with bodily functions, normal body issues, and other normal parts of life you probably shouldn't be on this site! This forum is for questions that people have - and many of them end up being the stuff that you can't normally ask in polite company, but you want to know the answer to....

Christina, I, too, find popping other people's zits to be very yucky - but I am drawn to do it on my daughter's face now that she is getting some and won't pop them herself. And, when I get a facial, they go ahead and pop zits, which I don't find to be that bad. I've also had my mom pop a zit on my back that hurt and I couldn't reach. I have a feeling that there are two camps and that the population is split pretty evenly down the middle - those that can't keep their hands off a zit (like your dad), and those who find it totally disgusting (like you). I doubt that there's many in the middle. :)

Whether you pop your own or pop someone else's, don't. It leaves scaring and spreads the bacteria in the zit around to the surrounding pores. This can cause more break outs. They need to be left alone to heal. While they are tempting to pop, please refrain for the sake of your skin. And yes you are right, popping zits on a face not your own is....eeew. Take care of your skin. It has to last you your whole life.

So.....questions about peeing and pooping in front of SO's is okay but a zit popping question is TABOO???!!! GROW UP LADIES!!!!

To answer you-I have an obsession. If there is a zit on my face (or anywhere else) I most definately pop it against all dermatologists advice. I never ask my husband to pop them because I have an aversion to pain and if I do it to myself, fine, but if he did it I would be mad the rest of the day.

That said, he asks me to get some he can't reach. I dont' LIKE to do it, but I grab two Qtips and some rubbing alcohol and when the deed is done I WASH MY HANDS!!!
