I have a front load GE washer that is only 2 1/2 years old. We just spent $200 to fix it and got a "we are sorry, but it is not our fault it sat in the store for 2 years". What type of customer service have your received from them? Did your problem ever get resolved?

What can I do next?

I don't own one, but wanted to share that my husband (who worked in appliances for years) said that he heard nothing but bad stuff about GE. Many customers didn't even keep theirs for the original 30 day period because they were so disappointed with them, so I definitely don't think you are alone in having problems with them. Next time around, look in to Whirlpool, Samsung or Bosch. He rarely had any issues with them! Sorry you are having problems!

I worked for GE for 15 years and when they started discussing "throw away" appliances I knew it was time to go. I believe it's pretty much everyone's philosophy now but other companies seem to be a little nicer about it...

I had the same issue - washing machine was only 2 years old - the entire transmission went. They wanted me to pay like $400 to fix it. I complained - went up several levels in management - and finally got them to fix if for $75 - which I begrudgingly paid. LOL

Be squeaky - be persistent - but be kind - sometimes you need to go up a few levels to the the service you deserve.

Good luck.

Dont recommend GE! We moved from GE 10 years ago and started using old fashion Maytag.

We have a GE fridge that needed a brand new motherboard at 5 years. Obviously, it was out of warranty. They just don't make things like they used to. Now, if the appliance was under warranty, doesn't matter how long it sat in the store. I believe that that warranty should start when it is put into use, not start the count down from day of manufacture.

Depending on the issue, under warranty or not, I would pursue this all the way to the top. But, again, depending on the issue, I would grudgingly be glad it was only $200. Good luck. D.

Sounds like we had the same washer, luckly I have a friend who works for sears in the repair dept. he told me up front the parts would cost more than a new washer and the parts would probably only last two to three years at best. He said to buy a new one it would be cheaper. The matching dryer pooped out a year later. I purchased a GE side by side fridge and it stopped working 2 weeks after the year warranty. My new washer and dryer are Maytag. They work great. If you plan on buying a new one avoid Bosch as well yes the cost$$$$$ but arn't what the salesmen claim them to be.

Yes, when we built our house it had GE Profile appliances.

They all SUCK. I still have the oven and microwave. You can't run the clean cycle on the oven because the oven will catch on fire. We were actually told this by the builder AFTER a neighbor's house caught on fire from the oven cleaning cycle.

Move on to Microwave... they came out about 3 times to repair it. Everyone in our neighborhood signed petitions and sent it to the builder for defective products.

Builder didn't care, nor did GE.

We ripped the dishwasher and stovetop out.........upgraded and replaced with KitchenAid.

I currently have the original oven and microwave just waiting a bit longer to replace those.

We have a GE profile front loader and we haven't had any issues (knock on wood). It is almost 3 years old.
