I need to have my daughter tested for ADHD. Does anyone have a referal for someone they know is good. I went through the pediatrician and they chose someone using my insurance list, but they are very expensive and I know little(nothing) about them.

What can I do next?

I have a daughter with ADHD, ODD and is possibly bipolar. We have used Susan Fletcher. She is INCREDIBLE. She has worked with Dr. Phil. That is how good she is. She is very easy to relate to. We HIGHLY recommend her. She is well worth every penny. She really understands you. She is also the "GO TO" person for Plano ISD when they need help diagnosing kids.

We are using Dr. Oshman. He has a PhD and he is located across the street from Medical City. We have only been a few times, but my daughter really likes him. His main practice is kids with ADHD.

Have you tried your local school district? They do the evaluation for free.

We used LeAnn Hamm at Pediatricians of Dallas ###-###-#### its right by Presby Dallas. they bill your evaluation through insurance and you just pay a copay since she is on staff. We thought she did a good job.

Good luck- Aj

I see Dr. Scott Woods as an adult but he has a lot of pediatric patients. I do like him a lot. He has 2 little ones of his own. His number is ###-###-####. He is located in Plano near the Tollway and Parker. Whoever you look into, ask if they specialize in ADHD testing and care.

My pediatrician gave me Leann Hamm's name and I found out she is not even a Doctor or psychologist so I wouldn't go to her. I ended up going to Dr. Matthew Housson in Dallas (5600 West Lovers Lane Dallas, TX 75209). He was great.

Of all the psychologists I've met, donna milburn is the absolute worst. I recommend avoiding her at all costs, and don't let this person anywhere near your kids.

It does tend to be expensive. If you do the full profile of tests, you can expect it to be between $600 and $900. It depends on your insurance, but most people I know have had to pay out of pocket. Scottish Rite is a gold standard and free, but they have an average 6 month wait. The Shelton School does testing and is also highly regarded (but expensive). Choose carefully, a friend of mine finally got a diagnosis on the 3rd try. The Dr. saw "red flags" on the tests the others missed. Finally in 6th grade the child gets help.

I've had a couple of friends use both of these groups and really liked them. I'm not that they take insurance so it might be expensive. If your daughter is in school and not making passing grades then you can go through the school and they can do the testing. Good luck!
