Do You Dress up to Go Out

I just realized that when I go to work I throw on a t shirt some jeans and go to work. But when I get off of work and have to go somewhere. I do my hair makeup and throw on nicer clothes. There are even times I throw on some jewelry just to add some flair.

Do you do this?
Please tell me I am not alone!

What can I do next?

My friend had a quote..."Life is not a dress rehearsal so don't dress like you are the understudy" Sunday is my "day off" when I dress down but otherwise I like to look presentable. You never know who you might run into when out and about :) I suppose it depends on what you do for work though...if you'll just get dirty then there is no point in dressing up.

I love to dress up -- really dress up. But if I did that too often around here people would really wonder about me. Yesterday I went shopping with my daughter and grandson, I put on a nice looking pair of jeans, a nice Tee-shirt and high heel sandals. A customer at the store asked me how I could shop in heels. I told her I love to wear heels.
But to honestly answer your question, I rarely leave my house without my hair fixed, some make-up and decent clothes. I firmly believe 'the clothes make the man (or woman)'. I take pride in who I am and I show that by always looking nice.

Be grateful you can go to work in such casual dress. I am retired now but as a former school principal I had to dress in business wear. Now I help my daughter out in her restaurant and dress pretty casual but find myself doing the same as you - like putting a scarf around my neck or jazzing up my earrings when I go to the grocery store!!! It just feels good - and that is what it is all about!!!!

I have a friend who never goes out without first fixing herself up to include nicer clothes and make up. Me, I'm retired and live in jeans or sweats and a t-shirt; sometimes wearing the same set several days in a row. I've gotten used to running to the store and picking up my grandchildren in my dressed down condition.

Nah, I work from home and I'm lucky if I put on a bra! Lol! However, I do put on a bra when I leave the house, but don't fancy myself up unless I'm going out with hubby or friends. =)

I dress up just to volunteer at my son's school, just to grocery shop etc. My clothes may not be jazzy/bar/dinner going out style but they are cute and comfortable, my make up is done and my hair is styled. It may be a pony or a bun - but a cute high pony with volume or a high top knot messy bun. Sorry, but I was raised to put fourth my best foot at all times - heck once I reached the 9th grade the only flats I wore were for gym class. It's just part of how I was raised and how I feel about looking my best.

for my daycare, I dress in old....but still presentable clothes. They have to be durable.

when I run errands, I spiff up. I put on my rings....sometimes other jewelry. I always make sure my clothes are decent, somewhat stylish.

I haul out the big guns for everything else.

Soooo, here's my story for this issue: my niece is teaching. She is our fashionista. & when I say that...I am serious! She rocks! A couple of weeks ago, she embraced Casual Friday for the 1st time. She actually wore dress jeans & a stylin' sweater. Her students always comment on her clothes, but on that Casual Friday....one of them said, "wow, Ms. B! You sure look different today".

Of course, my niece asked what she meant.....& the chickie said, "I mean you look less runway & more like going to Walmart to pick up some groceries".

2 funny!!! & my niece reminded the chickie, "you do realize I grade your papers, right?" :)

Most time, going out means going to a bar. No need to get dressed up. Jeans, tank top, flip flops, done.

But sometimes, usually when I'm out with girlfriends, we'll all dress to the 9's and put on something a little extra sassy ;)

I mean, I need an excuse to wear all these sky high heels!

Yes, otherwise I'm at home in pjs and my husbands tshirt looking like a piece. It feels GOOD to go out and to look good, especially as a hairstylist who had to dress up daily back in my salon days.

At work I always had to dress the part. Now that I'm a SAHM i dress down unless I just need to feel pretty and can find the time to do something about it. Two or three days a week is the max I ever put my face on wear something "put together". I hope I don't always do it this way, but I'm in that baby stages, so if I want to get everyone dressed and ready to go, something has to give and that thing is usually me. Funny thing though, in college I never understood the women who would go to class in sweats and baseball caps. I always put on something nice and at the very least did my hair and some lipstick. Now I will go anywhere in yoga pants and I just don't care.

You're not alone! If I'm working at my friends home office I'm casual but never sloppy. My office office I'm dressed up. And I always dress up to go out! Usually jeans, boots, heels, or flats, and a cute top. I always have my makeup done but might add a little extra.

Well, I can't wear jeans to work, and I do wear make up and "do" my hair for work....so I guess I'm the opposite! (But I DO like to be "baseline presentable" if I'm going shopping or something...although I have been known to run sans makeup to the store, etc....depends, I guess.)

Depends on where I'm going. Dinner and dancing? Yes, I dress up. To the grocery store? Hell no.
