Disposable Vs. Reusable Swim Diapers??

I recommend the Bummis Swimmi, which I've used on both my children. (www.bummis.com) It's reusable and very affordable. It'll contain the solid matter, which is what a swim diaper should do. It doesn't hold the pool water - so babies can still move in the water. :) Have fun swimming this summer!

I've used both. I like both for different reasons. At the beach I like disposable because of all the sand. At pools, either are ok to hold the #2. I usually do the reuseable at the pool and bring a disposable for backup. Make sure you have a back-up because a soiled diaper is no good. In the backyard kiddy pool, we don't use anything and just dump it daily anyways. I like the Target $6 reusables that someone else mentioned. Lastly, don't put your child in the carseat in either swimmy diaper as it won't hold it in.

Target carries the cloth resuasable ones for about $6 in many colors. I have been using them for both my boys for the last two years.

Neither one will keep the pee.... that will go right into the water. That's why nobody likes to hang out in the kiddie pool :)

I never found any reusable swim diapers that fit well. I tried a couple of different brands and all of them gave my son a rash where they close up at the legs. He's got sensitive skin though.

Disposable diapers are a lot more expensive, but you could get them on sale, or a BJs or Costco.
I have also hand- washed those and reused them a few times to cut down on the cost.

I prefer the disposable swim diapers - they do not bulk up like regular diapers and there are usually coupons in the paper or online. If you want to try some different brands, you can call some of the companies like huggies and ask for a sample and some coupons.

I use resusables on both my kids. I liked the ones I found at onestepahead.com. But, as others have pointed out, they don't hold pee, and I wasn't prepared for that. I have not found that the disposables leak. But I don't take the kids swimming enough to use up an entire pack before my kids need a new size, which is why I prefer reusables, which of course I can pass on from one kid to the next.

I've used both and don't see any benefit of the disposables over reusables. However, some pools only allow disposables or certain brands of reusables, so you'll need to check what your pool's policies are.

How often are you going to go the pool? If this will be a few days a week all summer long the disposables will get expensive and you should purchase 1 or 2 reusable swim diapers but if its going to be a once in a blue moon thing then get the disposables.

The disposable ones, like Little Swimmers, dont absorb pee, so you need to put it on right before getting in the water and remove right afterward.
I put just a plain old fitted cloth diaper on my son when we go swimming, nothing made specifically for swimming. Its really just to catch poop, because the pee will go right into the water regardless of what you do.

In my opinion, they both leak pretty badly...reusable a bit more. I would suggest whichever would save you more money, probably reusable in the long run.
