We are gonna start potty training next week. I plan to use the feel-n-learn disposable training pants for the first week, then switch to absorbent cotton training pants. So which brand and model of disposable training pants do you like?

What can I do next?

I think it's funny that someone said the exact opposite of what I said we tried both the huggies (princess) and the pampers (dora) my daughter LOVES dora but those things fell apart all the time!! she was so distraught over "breaking them" that I finally just put them all away and stuck with the princess ones. So I guess people have different opinions I think it's funny because we hated the pampers ones! We mostly used them at night though too because she could never really tell she was wet.

I don't like the disposable training pants. They are just another style of diapers and they cost more. In order for her to really do great using the potty she needs to feel that she needs to go BEFORE she starts, or at least as a first step, realize that she is urinating, not just by feeling her pants are wet. I'd stick with diapers for the first few days until she gets the concept of doing it in the potty, then go with the cloth undies (gerber makes good ones) and maybe get the plastic covers to contain the mess if she needs it.

Good luck!!

I used the generic brands, usually Target, because my son could care less if the designs disappeared or if it was cold. It depends on your child. We didn't have problems with them not holding a mess. I wouldn't recommend spending the extra money on pull-ups that do something special unless you find that it really does help your child potty train. The Target ones do also have designs that disappear. What I did find though with pretty much all of the brands-name and off, is that they run a little small. There is a difference between snug and tight.

We went straight to Imse Vimse and Blueberry cloth learners with great success (they are way more absorbent than the gerber kind).

We pretty much used the pull-ups for night-time and naptime. I didn't care for the Huggies brand because they came apart at the sides (which was great if you WANTED them off, but if you didn't well, then it was a pain). I like the Pampers. Good luck!

huggies. my dd loves the princesses I love that the color fades on them when wet so I can call her on it if she has peed in them but tries the "i'm dry" routine. lol.
also for her poops they hold them really well where when I tried the off brand members mark at sams she would blow out of those.

My daughter liked the Huggies princess ones, but she never "felt" it when she peed. Even though they were called "feel and learn". She fought with us over potty training for MONTHS while we used these. I switched her to the cloth training pants and she was shocked when she peed on herself. She was potty trained in 2 DAYS! We had some messes, but we just didn't go very far for those two days. It would have worked well on a weekend if you don't stay at home.

I have potty trained 4 kids and it will last a LONG time if you use the pull ups, even if they are feel and learn.... Could you just put plastic pants over the underwear so she REALLY feels it?? It just took forever when we tried pull ups and get expensive. Good luck

It's totally going to depend on your daughter. I bought some disposable training pants at a yard sale for $1, but otherwise I didn't plan on using them. EVen though I talked to my son about them, and called them "practice underwear," they felt like a diaper and wicked away the wetness, so he could care less if he peed in them.

I was getting a bit frustrated with him, since he's almost 3 1/2, but he just didn't care about potty training until about 2 weeks ago. I went out and bought more training pants, but I didn't open them, because I just knew they wouldn't work. I was going to take them back and buy the padded cotton training pants, so they'd feel wet and heavy and uncomfortable. But thankfully, he suddenly decided "no more diapers for Zachy" (thanks to a library book called "No more diapers for Ducky") and did it all on his own.

Seriously, I don't understand the point of Pull-Ups. I never bothered with them with my oldest, and my second thought they were diapers. I'd skip 'em entirely.
