Dishwashing BPA Free Plastic?

Hi Moms,
I have 2 toddlers and a baby on the way. I'm really tired of spending 20 minutes each night after they go to bed washing all the plastic sippy cups and bowls from the day. Is it okay to put BPA and phalate free plastic in the dishwasher? I have a low energy cycle on my dishwasher, the manuel says it's 15 degrees cooler than the regular wash.

What can I do next?

One of the good things about BPA is that you can put it in the dishwasher. One of the concerns with BPA is that is leaches out of the plastic from heat. Without BPA there isn't a concern. Dishwash away!

We do BPA free on most of our plastic. I've never read anywhere that there is any concern on putting them in the dishwasher. We do and nothing ever happens. Research it further on some of the sites for crunchy people but I've never ready that it causes anything to be released or anything bad to happen.

I put all my plastic in the dishwasher. It typically gets them cleaner than you can get them by hand.

My BPA free cups say they are dishwasher safe. I don't see why they wouldn't be ok to put in the dishwasher.

we have BPA free cups too, and put them in the dishwasher - they even survive the sanitize setting. no cracks, or anything, and we've been doing that for about a year - with the same cups we bought a year ago!

Most sippy cups are dishwasher safe. If you wonder about yours go to the store and check out the wrapper on them.

As long as they say dishwasher safe, it's ok to wash them on the top rack. I washed my daughter's Born Free bottles in the dishwasher. A dishwasher basket is nice for holding little parts. After the drying cycle, I'd still put them on a drying rack.

We have put sippy cups and bowls in the dishwasher all the time. I don't think they are BPA free but I just can't worry about that when so many kids have not had problems before the past couple of years. We always hand washed the bottles but once done with those, the dishwasher it was

Hi L.! I think it's safe. I would assume that since they are being heated but then cooled before you use them you would be safe. I do agree that I feel that sippy cup parts get cleaner in the dishwasher. It may be psychological but it makes me feel better! :)
