Dirty Pan,Can't Clean

I have this griddle like pan my husband cooked marinated steaks on about 2 weeks ago.The steaks were marinated in zesty itialian salad dressing (taste great, especially if marinated for 24 hours).AnywaY I have soaked it in hot water and dish liquid and other household products for the past 2 weeks and not even so much as a little of the stuck on grease and food had lossened up.Anyone know of a good way to get stuck on food off of a pan?If I cant get the stuff off soon the pan in going in the trash,Im tired of it taking up half of my sink soaking.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I will def be tryng the vineger thing nex time...gotta buy some lol.But I did try another things.I put the pan in hot water along with one of those electrosol powder type things with the white ball in the center...for a dishwasher. And I let is soak over night last night.I took it out a little while ago and part of the pan was completely clean and the other I was able to scrape off a good bit.So I scraped and then repeated with the electrosol thing...hopefully by morning or late tonight it will be able to be washed off completely. Thanks for ur responses and I plan on using some of the idea some of you mentioned next time I have a dirty pan...which happens alot!

Have you tried SOS pads or steel wool? They work great unless the pan is non-stick. The new Dawn foaming power dissolve works really well if something is greasy, but I don't know how well it will work on something stuck on. I buy it at Wal-mart. They also have scrubbing pads that are coarser than steel wool, but I can't think of the name of them. They come in either silver or copper colored.

I know this sounds crazy but there are 3 sure fire ways to get off any kind of grease, WD-40 or Murphy's Oil Soap, or putting a sheet or two of Bounce in the water and letting it soak. WD-40 and Murphy's will get any grease stain out of clothing also, but with the WD-40 you have to re-wash to get the smell out. Try this next time...They work VERY well. do not use these things together, each are a separate solution tho the same problem

Hi C.,
i just found this site and your request was the first one i read. here's a trick that I use...put a small amount of water in the pan and some dish soap and bring to a boil...it should bring the stuff right out. let me know if it works.

Try filling it with water and a some dish soap then put it on your stove and boil the water. This works great for me if I burn anything which I seem to be doing a lot while adjusting to using an electric stove after using gas my whole life. Good Luck!

Hi C.! Don't throw that pan away. Clean it as well as you can & use it for beer in the rear chicken. Simply, with a whole chicken wash it WELL & remove the insides. Wash it well again. Season the chicken with a salt, pepper, & garlic powder rub inside & out. Place it on a 3/4 full beer can & grill for about 1 & 1/4 hrs. We are charcoal grillers, so check accordingly if you use gas. This is a great family recipe. It feeds all of us & I've never heard a complaint... If you cook two chickens, I have a GREAT chicken salad recipe too, IF you have leftovers!

Have you tried oven cleaner? Can't hurt if nothing else works. Sometimes putting the pan in the freezer helps to break it up.

I second the Oven cleaner!

What about grille cleaner or oven cleaner? If not go buy a new pan who knows you mite find something for yourself when you go shopping. HAHA good luck
