Difficulty Conceiving #3 - Jenks,OK

My husband and I have been trying for baby #3 for over 9 months. I have not taken birth control in over 3 years so that is not an issue. At first we weren't trying very hard but then decided we really wanted to have another baby pretty quickly. Well, needless to say we are still not pregnant. I should also mention that with 1 & 2 there was no trying, when we were ready to have them we conceived on the first "try".

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know someone who has. I am starting to get concerned that something is wrong since it happened so easy the first 2 times. My insurance does not cover fertility at all so I can't really go to a specialist because there is no way that we could afford one. I was also wondering if anyone knew of some natural things to help balance hormones or increase fertility that work. There are a lot of things on the internet that claim they do, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money just to be disappointed. Any advise would be great. This is something that we are praying daily about and all additional prayers are greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Well as it turns out I was worrying for nothing. My husband and I are expecting after 9 months of trying and I am due the first of August. Thank you so much for your responses, thoughts, and prayers. We are ecsatic! Hopefully it will be that little princess we have been praying for, but if it is a football player we will be happy too.

Hello. My husband and I had trouble conceiving (for 3 years)as well. Try drinking Cranberry or Raspberry juice, as well as Female Toner Tea and or Red Clover Tea. I read in an herb book that both the Cranberry and Rasberry juice helps balance out the Female Hormones. I have a feeling it helped me because my husband and I are parents to a beautiful baby girl.:)

Sincerely,
C

I had a friend who tried too hard to get pregnant and it took them 7 months for the first one and around 6 months for the second one. She was stressing herself out to the point where her body wouldn't allow her to conceive because of that stress. I was not trying with either of my kids and got pregnant right away. I am not sure about any of the fertility things out there, I know smoking decreases a womans chances(if you are a smoker). My mom had endometriosis and that was wrapped around her tubes making it impossible for the egg to come down, I know the pill is one of the things they prescribe to help minimize that. Have you talked to your Dr. so you know that there is none of that?

My friend is a fertility coach. She suggests that the woman take zinc but no caffeine and the male have caffeine. Also, she says that while most insurances won't cover fertility stuff, your general practitioner or OB/GYN should be allowed to do blood/mucus tests that fall under "wellness" and not fertility. (And most OBs will be happy to work around/with insurance restrictions-- if you have a baby, they get paid!) She also says that being ultra-skinny or too overweight will impede conception. A little bit of body fat actually helps the production & storage of estrogen, but too much or too little will change your hormones in non-fertile directions.

Have you read the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? If not, I highly recommend it! Lots of practical advice for conceiving at any age and stage. You can also check it out on the web at http://www.tcoyf.com/. Hope that helps! My prayers are with you!

Secondary infertility happens more then you think. The body changes and ages (not sure if this is an issue for you). If you have not had fertility issues for previous pregnancies, most doctors will not see you until you have been trying for a year. (I realize your insurance situation, but their response at this time would be, "relax, give it a few more months").

I would see where the ob/gyn and fertility line is at the insurance company. Can you do some testing? bloodwork? Is any of it covered?

Good luck.

I read a wonderful book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" a few years ago which I ordered off Amazon. It is an amazing book which teaches you so much about your body and the signs to look for. I lent it to another friend over a year ago and can't remember the author's name. But I'm sure you can easily find it at Amazon or at a Nobles, etc. Good luck!!

Have you tried an ovulation monitor? They are expensive ($200), but well worth it. They sell them behind the pharmacy counter. I used ClearBlue easy.

http://clearblueeasy.com/FertilityMonitor.cfm

You'll see if you are ovulating and then exactly when to try to get pregnant. This worked great for us after years of trying unsuccessfully on our own. Timing is everything!

(P.S. you can sell it on ebay once you are pregnant, if you are worried about the cost. Believe me you'll get most of your money back)
