Hi J.,
Nutri-System will not let you use their program if you are breastfeeding. Hope that helps!

Weight Watchers is GREAT!!!! I have friends that have done the Nutri system diet, and they lost the weight, but as soon as the weight was off they went back to their regular habits and put ALL the weight back on. Weight Watchers not only teaches you how to lose weight the right way, but also how to have a healthy lifestlye during and most importantly after. When you hit your ideal goal lifetime membership is free. Other then the weekly meetings which cost $10 there's nothing else to buy other then the regular food you would buy anyways. Most importantly for your questions they allow mothers taht breastfeeding, and support it. I lost 10 pounds while breastfeeding and on Weight Watchers. I should be getting paid for this :)

You should always consult your doctor first. Like the other respondent said, some diet programs have it for lactating or breastfeeding women. But I would check first. YOu wouldn't want it to affect your milk output or production or what's going into your milk. Good luck.

Hi J.,

When it comes to a "diet" and you are still breastfeeding your new baby, professionals do not recommend it. What can happen is you can loose your milk.

What I recommend is that you eat as healthy as you did while you were pregnant. Keep your carb intake to fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Take your baby out for walks to get regular exercise and drink lots of water. Calorie intake will depend on what your body type is. But if you find that your milk is getting hard to make then your calories are too low.

I hope this helps and best wishes to you and your new addition.

J. - DO NOT diet while you are breastfeeding. It's just not good for you, especially while your son is still so little. In fact, don't worry about your weight right now, it's still early. If you are concerned, just eat in moderation and start walking with your kids around the block. If you eat moderately, walk a little each day, and drink LOTS and LOTS Of water (and that's it, no juice, no soda, nothing) the weight will come off. Trust me, I had my little girl (who is 7 months old recently) in January and I've dropped 76 pounds (I only gained 30 with the pregnancy, so I was overweight to begin with). For more information about dieting and breastfeeding, go to your local La Leche League site and read up on it. Good luck and congratulations!

Weight watchers. I did it with my doctors blessing. They have a special guide lines in their weight loss plan for Breast feeding moms. They offer you all the nutrition you need to produce ample milk, yet the correct foods to make sure you loose weight at the same time. The first meeting is free...go check it out. I had no problems on weight watchers while I was breast feeding and managed to loose 60lbs in a year all while breastfeeding. Good luck and go try it out..the freedom to eat whatever it is you choose, albeit healthy to a degree is the best part. Good luck

It's never a good idea to diet while BF. Talk to your doctor before you do anything. I don't know, but I assume those foods you buy from places like Nutri System are full of sodium and preservatives. The good news is....You'll burn at least 500 calories a day just BF your baby!!

I don't now for sure about NS, but WW has a special guide line to follow for BF and dieting. I'm sure that NS probably will too, but I would call and ask.

Hope you get if figured out~ J.
