Diet Pills??? - Clinton Township,MI

Hey everyone,
Just a quick question, I was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who uses diet pills for weight loss and/or to curb appetite? I am still trying to loose baby weight and I have gotten more active but its not enough. If I can find something out there that may give me a boost or jump start it would really help. I have looked in to a few things on-line and the websites are bias. Also if so, did you exercize with the pill or just watch what you ate, and what were the effects.

Let me know!!
A.

What can I do next?

I highly recommend Weight Watchers, and would avoid diet pills. They are a risky, temporary fix at best.

I can't recommend diet pills as I've never taken any, but a friend of mine has had GREAT success with the Medical Weight Loss Clinic meal plans. She lost almost 40 lbs in about 4 months with them - so fast enough to see results but not so fast it's unhealthy.

You know, it hasn't even been 6 months yet... I found what they say to be very much true. "9 months on, 9 months off". It took almost exactly 9 months for me to get back to as close as I'm going to get to my pre-baby size (my hips are bigger so I'll never get to exactly the same size).

Good luck!

A., Have you ever heard that some diet pills effect your digestive system so that you'll want to be wearing a light days pad. Some make the food zip thru your digestive system so quick you don't absorb several nutrients?

Is it that you want something quick and easy?

The only thing that diet pills will make thinner is your checkbook! The ones you buy from the store don't work and the prescription ones (the ones that work) are temporary and have terrible side effects. Trust me on this...the only way to lose weight is diet modification and exercise. Baby steps...make small changes one at a time (such as replacing all beverages with H2O) and you'll see a difference!

Stay strong...you can do this!

Once you start taking any diet pills, you will have just altered your body's natural ability to metabolize. once you stop the pills, your body will may not have a natural response to turning food into energy/burning it properly without help. It is great that you are exercising, you will not lose weight effectively (long term) without it. There are also other things you can cut back on (sugar, sodas...even diet, and ALL processed foods) and more natural things you can add to your diet to help things along (fiber in the form of whole grains/fruits/veggies, water!, green tea and apple-cider-vinegar---sounds crazy, but adds energy too!). Doesn't mean you can't cheat on sweets once in a while, just cheat with real (not processed) food.
Be patient, if you lose weight slow and steady...and naturally...it will stay off and you won't lose muscle with it. Also, as a side note, when you lose weight fast (especially in your 30s) your face will look older.
Slow and steady also doesn't mess up your health :)

Hi A.,
Certainly I'm no expert on this topic because I've been trying to lose the baby weight from all three of my kids and finally I've found something that works...Weight Watchers. Obviously you need to do what works for you, however I'll caution you that I tried the Weight Smart (?) vitamins for women and after a couple days I started feeling really weird. My heart started racing, I felt jittery, and out of control. Seems that the green tea extract and ECGC is known to do that and can cause some heart problems - from what my dr. tells me. I don't recommend doing that at all given the side effects and potential problems! I've been looking for 10 years now and have found that there is no magical pill! Good luck!

A.,

Be careful with diet pills. Diet pills typically have some type of stimulant in them. Once a person goes off the diet pill they put the weight back on. YO YO Dieting kind of thing.

I have an exceptional weight management program. People tend to get to their goal weight and then what...they don't know. So I coach people during the weight management program and get them on a maintenance program so they stay at their goal weight. It is simple and it is good for the body, no stimulants.

If having a support system, products that do not contain arificial ingredients (no stimulants), and support is important to you, email me with your number and best time to reach you.

Warm regards,

Hi A., My name is M.. I struggle with weight loss, too. Cut back on calories, exercise and nothing seems to work. I started last September on Adipex per my family Dr. ( some insurances don't cover it). As of today 2-26-09 I have lost 23 lbs. Weight is coming off slow but I haven't gained anything back. Eliminated my breads and other starches for the 1st 3 months, I also cut back on sweets. I am a huge chocolate eater but eventually got past the cravings. The only side effects I have had from the medication is I am very thirsty. You need to really increase your fluids. My sister has lost over 100 pounds on the same medication in 1 year. She looks like a whole new woman. Good luck on what ever method you try. Weight seems to be a constant battle for us ladies.

There are many natural ways to enhance energy and promote weight loss that won't have some of the crazy side effects (like anal leakage potential) that I can share with you. It's my business. Let me know if you want to talk.

Ultimately, you will want to reduce bad carbs and bad fats and add exercise according to your body's needs. The goal is to keep your sugar in the fat burning zone...so much more to tell you!

A.,
I've tried weight loss both ways. I've tried Hydroxycut and it really didn't seem to make a difference. I combined it with diet & exercise but I found that I focus better on healthy eating and exercising when I'm NOT taking the diet pills. Plus, now that I've read up more on what they can do to your body, I"m turned off. Believe me, I was looking for the same thing as you - just a little boost to add to my diet/exercise regimin. But in the long run, I don't think they're really worth it. Like another poster mentioned, nothing has worked better for me than Weight Watchers. Another important aspect is to keep your work outs interesting - try to change them up from time to time. I subscribed to Women's Health (it was only $12 for a full year) and I try a new workout move suggested in the magazine each month so that I don't get bored. And the workouts they suggest in this magazine (as with most health-focused magazines) can be done at home! Best of luck!
