Did You Get a 3D Ultrasound? If So What Week

We're doing the 3d ultrasound since our 8 year old isn't allowed in the hospital ones and our Dr office does them at a very reasonable price. They scheduled M. for 30 weeks but he measures 2 weeks early in all ultrasounds so far. The ultrasound tech told us between 26-29 weeks would be good to see him any further would be too tight, but the dr office scheduled at 30. I'm wondering if anyone else got one done. if so what week, in your opinion was it a good week to get it done and also did your baby measure big during that time?

Thanks

So What Happened?

ha maybe too tight isnt the right phrase. They said if you wait too long it's not as good since they can;'t move around as much and the pictures aren;t as good.

We aren't only doing it so our kid can be there. We like the idea of it. they were too expensive 8 years ago so I didn't do the 3d one with her, but we all want to do it this time.

I have heard that 30 weeks is too big to get a good view too. We had one done at about 22 weeks and that was perfect.

I had an elective 3D ultrasound so that my family can join in. We did it at 32 weeks, and they are beautiful pictures that I treasure. My son was very big, 10'9 and 22 1/2" at birth. I think 30 weeks should be fine.

I had several of them done, and I think they are well worth the price! The photo is great to show people, but it is so amazing to be there watching the screen, watching the baby move and react to stimulus. Also, it is tricky for them to capture a good image as the kiddo is moving around, so you tend to get a much better view watching the screen. Sure, you can get a DVD, but it's J. not the same.

I went to a high-risk doctor for most of my second pregnancy and had frequent ultrasounds. They had a machine that could flip back and forth between regular and 3-D ultrasound. Sometimes they used the 3D for diagnostic purposes (looking for cleft palate, among other things), but mostly the nurses would J. switch it over for M. for a few seconds at some point during the exam. I think your 30 week appointment will be fine. I do remember that in later shots my son had his arms up by his face, so we could only see his chin and lips between his forearms, but even that was pretty adorable.

I J. got the standard, insurance covered one, at about 18 to 20 weeks I think? Healthy, low risk pregnancies for M. so no need for anything additional.
And we opted NOT to have the sex revealed. We loved the anticipation and surprise :-)

I only wanted an ultrasound if the doctor suspected a problem with the baby. I wanted to be surprised at the birth.

I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks with my oldest. I don't know what they mean by "too tight." Are they saying that the baby is too big to see anything? I really don't understand. I still have the pictures from the 36 week u/s, and they are very nice and very clear.

I had two: one to establish pregnancy around 12 weeks or so and one again at 20 weeks to check that Kiddo had all his parts. We also wanted to know the gender.

After that, there was no medical reason to obtain another. Didn't do an amnio, either, knew that we were keeping the pregnancy.

I didn't get an ultrasound at all. Didn't see any need for one.

You are having an extra and paying for another u/s so your kid can be there. Get a picture. Is there a problem that you are having another one. I guess any time would be good. Don't understand the too tight issue.

We have only done a 2D ultrasound many times due to possible complications but everything has been fine thus far. My son was able to go to the ultrasound with M. and he is 8 years old, why will they not let him attend?
