Did Anyone Else Watch Ancient Aliens Last Night?? If Not, Read Anyway :)

I was watching it because I love ancient history; the Mayans, Egyptology, all that... but I couldn't swallow their theory on 'aliens' helping the ancients build this stuff. My husband and I got into a 3 hour disagreement over this.

Okay, I'm sure we're not the only one's in the universe, but the thought of aliens? Nope. Not buying it. And you know what? I don't think, if there is evidence of aliens, that we will see in in our lifetime. I stay away from the whole alien thing.

So what's your take? Do you think aliens came to Earth forever ago just to help the ancients build? Or do you think it's possible that the ancients seriously had nothing better to do than invent and build to precision? (<--- that's my take, in short).

I'll add to this as I get some responses... I think the whole alien theory is B.S. though. I know, you can't prove or disprove it, but we have SO MUCH historic and scientific evidence as to how the ancients built to perfection and excelled in the mathematics involved with precision... my husband thinks just because someone has a PHD or MD that their alien theory holds weight... I tried to tell him that they didn't go to school to learn about aliens, they learned what the rest of us know... anything after that is a blank page and they're theorizing... and I don't buy it.

Or what about the theory that certain illness came to earth on space junk? To me, there's NO WAY any organism can survived the extreme freezing temps of space and break through the earth's atmosphere (extreme heat) and survive to make us ill. NOT BUYING IT!! What's your opinion??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Another question... why would the supposed aliens come here THEN, but not NOW?

@Laura, it's unrealistic and egotistical to think we're the ONLY one's in the universe, I mean, what's beyond the black hole? We don't know. I don't think their are alien life forms that think and breathe and 'act' relatively human. DO I think there are other 'life forms' on a cellular level? Absolutely. Cells and full blown organisms are 2 different things... organisms are made of cells. I say yes to cells, no to organisms.

@JessicaWessica: thank you, your first paragraph said it ;)

Why is it so hard for us to believe that other generations were very intelligent and could build things....alone or not? I don't believe they had that kind of help. We are becoming lazy, weak and don't do much physically so I think they did it alone and did a very good job of it.

I agree with your thinking that they just didnt have anything better to do but build to precision. People really are like ants in a lot of ways. If we didnt have all of the distractions and ease of today's life we would still be building things to perfection instead of taking shortcuts and becoming so lazy. The pyramids, pillars, and block walls of ancient history are SO AWESOME.

I wouldn't imagine we are the only "intelligent" life force in the universe. We most likely can't even fully comprehend the tininess of our planet compared to everything "out there" in space.
Why would "aliens" come here to bother with our pyramids, etc? Who knows....maybe they had high hopes for this planet at one time. Maybe Earthlings showed some real promise with their intellect back then.
Maybe Earth is the loser of the galaxies when it comes to intelligence? We'll never likely know. Interesting Q.

It's fun to think about but if you believed every sci fi story out there, our little tucked in the corner on the edge of our galaxy planet seems like alien grand central station.
If you think about the possibility that a civilization that has the ability to travel the distances between stars would stop to basically play blocks with a bunch of back water ape descendants - it sounds pretty lame.
As far as viruses coming to earth with meteors goes - I think it's possible.
I'm not arrogant or self centered enough to think that life could only evolve here.
Planets can break up and their oceans can become frozen chunks of ice or the ice can be in the middle of a frozen mud ball.
It the mud ball is big enough and comes in at the right angle, the outside might burn up a bit in our atmosphere, but the middle might survive landing on earth or in the ocean.
The whole heat shield tile set up on the space shuttles effectively take the heat while keeping the rest of the shuttle from burning up.
When the space ice melts - viruses could thrive in a new environment.
But we don't need space viruses to make us ill.
The ones we've got here already keep evolving and we've got to evolve with them to keep fighting them off.
As far as someone with a Masters or PhD who's ideas hold more weight go - well, maybe, sometimes, but there are a fair number of crack pots out there who've earned degrees.
I have a BS but I was always jokingly told the degrees stand for:
BS = Bull Sh*t
MS = More Sh*t
PhD = Piled Higher and Deeper

I haven't read your other responses and I don't want to seem wackadoodle, but my husband DVR's Ancient Aliens and other UFO programming and I've watched several with him. I've gotta say, I was skeptical at first but after watching the programs with him and if you pay attention to the UFO sightings that go on almost daily worldwide, well you may just change your mind. Frankly, I have.

Some of the pyramids and other structures that have been found on Earth (gosh, I wish I had my hubby here he could give me specific names of them) would be literally and absolutely impossible to build by man alone and without the technology that we have today. Some of these stones weigh 5 tons EACH and are stacked on top of one another and go on for miles in some instances. What is amazing is that more and more are being discovered now because of satellites. From the ground, you can't tell what the heck they are or the pattern they are laid in. From the sky? Unbelievable.

I'll tell ya what: I'm keeping an open mind. I don't believe for one second that our government and governments around the world for that matter are being upfront about what they know in regards to UFOs, etc.

P.S. What do you think all of the references from Greek literature are in regards to the "Gods" that were cited as flying through the air and such or came from the heavens?? Food for thought.

This is my favorite topic, really. And I could write 500 books on the subject, but I don't have to, they are already out there.

There is a lot more to this than "are they here? were they here then?" The paranormal is really a wide range of genres, and current research is bringing into question how some of these situations seem to overlap. If you want to talk about aliens and if they are here, and you want to be using the most current reports, science, and general info, then you should research Men In Black, Alternative History, Sasquatch, and (of course), Roswell. Throw in a Shadow Person or an Old Hag, and you've got yourself quite a bit of reading to do.

My point is that I do not presume to know very much about the planet I live on. I have seen very strange things, in the sky, in my house. There are a lot of hoaxes that have been perpetrated over the years. Do I want to believe? Sure. Do I actually believe? I believe there are a lot of things that are unexplainable at this point in history, and it's the evolution of the research and the personal accounts that I find the most informative and interesting. So, yes, I believe something is going on that I can't explain yet. But I've been studying paranormal phenomena for 20 years.

What I think is hysterically funny about this show is that they completely ignore scientific and anthropological and archaeological evidence that refutes their hypotheses and they pick and choose only the ones that "might" support or "appear to" support their hypotheses. I don't think they even actually believe 3/4 of the stuff they claim on that show.

That doesn't mean I don't love watching it. It's not reality TV and it's there purely for entertainment. I think of the so-called experts as characters and I really do think that the people portraying them are playing characters to a very high degree.

I think they made a good point for aliens helpIng. Especially when they showed the monuments and how difficult it would be to carve those images into the rock. I think it's possible
