Diarrhea - Attleboro,MA

My 12 month old who turns 1 today has had a stomach virus since Thursday. The DR said it will consist of 12 hours of vomitting and 3-4 day of bad diarrhea. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on a good diaper for the diarrhea. If I change her every hour or hear her go then the diapers are OK it's when she sleeps that the diapers fail and I have to decon the whole crib. I tried a larger size but that didn't work. I figure she has 2-3 more days of this and I can't afford to keep throwing out sheets and onsies. I went through 3 last night.

What can I do next?

I am a Mom of three and cared for my niece for her first 3 years of life while my sister worked, and anytime I had little ones with the runs I always added the plastic diaper covers over the diapers. You know the ones they use over the washable cloth diapers. They always worked with the Pampers I used. IAM SO SORRY YOUR LITTLE ONE IS SICK good luck.

I just want to say Happy Birthday to your little one. I'm sorry she has to be sick on her birthday! My 2 boys just got over the bug too. My 4 year old was vomiting and diarrhea for about 12 hours, then he was fine. My 1 year old threw up once on friday and then was fine. And then last night I was reading your request and he had diarrhea so bad all over himself! It leaked right out the side and went all down his jammies. What a mess! That was the only time he had diarrhea and hopefully it's done.
So anyway I really don't have any suggestions. I use Huggies Supreme and obviously they didn't work! Good luck and I hope she gets better quick!

Hi C.-
So sorry your little one has a stomach bug. I went through this a few times with my son when he was younger. I believe I was using Pampers Baby Dry at the time. There is not much you can do with diarrhea, but you could try White Cloud diapers. You can get them at Walmart. Those always worked well for me. Right now, I am using the Target brand diapers and have not had any leaks, granted he has not had straight diarrhea in them, but only very liquidy stools. Luvs has always had great leakage protection as well. I have noticed that Pampers and Huggies have both leaked for me even with regular stools. If no diaper is working, maybe get some of those multi-use pads at a Babies R Us and line her bed with them so you only need to get rid of those when the diapers do leak. Good luck and I hope your little girl feels better soon.
