Diapers for the Night Time?

Hi,

We have always been using the Kirkland Diapers from Costco for my daughter. It works great. She's only about 21 lbs, so she uses a size 3.

This morning, she woke up with pee behind her back. Initially I was thinking of moving her to a size 4, with the assumption of a bigger diaper is probably more absorbent. However considering her size, it might make more sense to see if there are any diapers made for the night time. She sleeps through the night.

Is there any particular brand you could recommend that works for the night time that is reasonably priced?

Thanks.

Huggies Overnights work great!! I had boys and my youngest still leaked out so I also had to use diaper doublers. They can also be found in the diaper section or at Safeway.
Good luck!!

I asked the same question for my twins a few months back. The solution: Huggies Overnights! Haven't had a problem since.

Another vote for Huggies Overnights. :) They worked better than the Pampers nighttime diaper for us. Also, my child doesn't drink anymore water after dinner time except for a tiny bit of milk and bedtime--maybe 1/2 an inch in the cup.

Huggies Overnights!! I've used them with both my kids, and my 3.5yo still wears them at night. Both my kids sleep or go @ 12 hours without a diaper change, and I've never had a leak or blowout! I don't know if they make size 3, but I know they make size 4; that's what my 6mo daughter is in :)

I've never heard of special night time diapers. In my experience if they are wetting through the diaper it's either time to cut back on the liquids before bed or move up a size in the diapers. If the 4's are too big then I would try a different brand and see if that helps.

I had this same problem...I used Kirkland up to size 3, then switched to costco huggies....size 3....haven't had a problem since unless I gave him a lot to drink before bed - we learnedto give him a feeding about an hour before bed time and another small feeding to get hum to sleep that way a big wet diaper was out of the way - still do it now, though I am pregnant and usually wake up in the night around 4, and always notice him wet, so will change him then and he sleeps til like 8:30/9 in the a.m. But used to wake up at 7, so gave me that extra hour in the morning to sleep in or do homework (in college for my Masters)...also forgot to mention - he cosleeps with us me - 19 months, but crib for naps - since daddy away on business alot

Pampers work great. My kids have to use them because they are allergic to everything else. I found that they work so much better anyway and probably save me money in the long run. Good luck!

well I'm not a whole lot of help since my daughter is a lot bigger than yours. But we have found that the overnight pullups work great and are more absorbent. When she was little though we found that once in awhile a double diaper technique worked better at stopping leaks.

a bigger diaper might work but it also could just as likely come off easier especially if she moves a lot in her sleep. I've heard of turning the diaper around backwards can help at night.

My 22 month old is 21# and in a size 3 also. When her diaper leaked, I bought her the Huggies Overnights in a size 4. They fit her really well and work great! I also had to do the same thing for her older sister. Both my kids are slim and petite but the Huggies seemed to do the trick!

I use a size bigger for my lil girls! My youngest is in a size 3 (luvs) during the day and a 4 at night my oldest is in a size 5 (luvs) and a 6-7 (pampers) at night! The only time I have any leaking is if my oldest takes her diaper off and I think it might be cheaper doing it that way concidering you get less when there are more diapers or overnights. never used the overnights so no help there. Both my girls sleep through the night 7.30pm-8.00am :)

We had the same problem w/our son when he was aabout 8 months and it only lasted awhile. It was awful for awhile though until I figured out what I could do. I went up a size at night for a few months. I never found the "night time diapers" but if you can find them I would recommend trying those first. I, also, made sure I changed my son again at the very last minute before going to bed (he also ate one more time before falling asleep for the night) and I swear this saved me many times over. This stage passed and he no longer had the problem (just once the other night but never again and he's 17 months old). So try these things and the other insights from the other moms you'll receive and something will help. You'll find what works best for you so hang in there and try it ALL!

I always used LUVS. Just be careful switching diapers, when my daughter was a few months old, I switched her diapers unknowingly, and it caused a severe rash. So bad it ate through several layers of her skin in one day. LUVS are gentle and cheap! good luck!

With both my kids, I used Kirkland diapers during the day and Huggies Overnights (in the purple package) at night. Both sleep about 12 hours through the night and neither child peed through the Huggies Overnights very often.
