People need to do research on cloth diapers before they decide they know it all. If you are going to throw facts in there be sure they are right. One bag of laundry detergent can last you up to 6 months since you only need about 2 tbs per load. And 3 extra loads of laundry per week isn't going to up your bills that much. We have not noticed any change what so ever in the water or gas bills since we started using cloth. You don't need a dryer, hang them up to dry.

I spent around $500 on all of our diapers and supplies and we are about to use the same diapers on our 3rd baby due in November. You can't diaper 3 kids for $500 with disposables.

I was going to respond that depending on the age of your child cloth is the cheapest option and then saw that others had already told you that. I was a little surprised by S. S. saying that they weren't cheaper. Maybe you won't save $2000, I'll give you that, but I know my cloth diapers are cheaper than even your dollar store diapers. We were given all of our diapers, but even if I'd purchased them they were $300 for everything. Spread over the 2 years that my son was in diapers that comes to $12.50 per month. Our water and dryer are both heated by gas and during the summer our gas bill runs about $25 per month, which includes all of our hot showers and baths and all the cooking and baking we do in addition to the 4-5 non-diaper loads of laundry that I do. If you want to be generous you could say that half of my bill is from diapers, which means I'm still only spending $25 per month total. And that does not include that I'll be able to use almost all of them again with my second child. Plus your $35/month is on diapers for a toddler, which you need fewer of, so I'm sure you spent more when you had an infant. I'm not usually one to get in an argument with people on here, but please know what you are talking about before you post.

Kudos to anyone who cloth diapers. Really, I mean it. But they are not for me.
My laundry room is a dungeon.
Maybe if I had one of those beautiful laundry rooms next to my kitchen and not full of spiders...I would seriously consider it.
But that is not reality.

That said...Amazon Subscribe and Save is (IMO) the best place to get diapers.

I buy mine on amazon. I became an "amazon mom" which gets me 15% off of baby products. On TOP of that, I also do the "subscribe and save" option, which is an additional 15% off. So, off of every diaper shipment (you can delay shipments or request them early if needed), I save 30%. Currently, my youngest is in size 1 diapers, so I get the biggest box of Luvs (300 count) and they cost me $26.59 after the savings.

ok I know that I may be stiring the pot a little with the whole cloth vs disposable, but cloth areNOT cheaper. by the time you figure in energy to run your washer and dryer (one load on hot water takes more electric then leaving your fridge door open all day) laundry detergent and water, its not cheaper. How can you save 2000 dollars. my son would have to be in diapers forever to spend that. thats 420 a year. that means my son would be in diapers till he is almost 5 to spend 2000. after you factor in the cost that I mentioned he would have to be in diapers till he is almost 6 We spend about 35 a month that being said Krogers has the cheapest around here. I know they don't have then in MA, but stop n shop is kinda similar. At krogers I can get a box of 85 size 4 diapers for less then $14. after that the dollar store. 9.50 for 56.

I second cloth! Huge, huge $$ saver. Nothing like what you are sitting there thinking right now! Modern cloth diapers are just as easy to get on as a disposable and you never ever have to run out to the store because you are out of diapers. Just toss a load of diapers in the washer and you are good to go. I spent $500-600 on my diaper stash and accessories compared to the *thousands* you will spend from birth to potty training using disposables.

If I had to re-do my cloth experience I would go with Bum Genius one-size pocket diapers. Awesome.

And cloth wipes are amazing! Another huge $ saver. Kissaluvs wipes solution lasts forever because you only need 1-2 tsp per 4 oz of witch hazel. Wet the wipe, spray your solution on and baby is super clean with only 1 wipe!

I love target diapers! I wouldn't go back to pampers. Target's up and up brand is cheap and fits my son well. We occasionally have a night time pee through, but only rarely. We've had that with every bran we've ever tried though.

I went on a diaper testing rage for myself a little while back. I ended up again with parents choice from wal mart. Luvs was better, but parents choice started making theirs better. Huggies are expensive and leaked way worse at night.....NOT worth my money. I go to wal mart.com and actually buy some bigger packs for cheaper and they have free shipping on those. Good luck

My daughter is 5 now, but when she was little I compared all the stores/websites. I found Target to be the cheapest, (the Target brand is cheap and good too). You can find coupons for diapers, (Luvs will send you some if you sign up w/their site). All of people I know like Diapers.com, but I never used it.

I use diapers.com. It's cheaper than Target or Babies R Us (they usually have some sort of discount) and it's nice because the shipping is free and they come right to the house :) I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart. I haven't found them cheaper anywhere else.

If you are going the disposable route, Luvs have been the best for us for daytime and Huggies Overnites for bed. My boy is a pee pee machine! I typically order mine off Amazon in the big boxes. With their subscribe and save program you save more $$ and free shipping with Amazon Prime.

I do like cloth diapers, and use them about 1/2 the time, but we DO have blowouts from time to time. (My 5 month old has some powerful BMs and he can blow out just about every diaper we've tried.)

My favorite disposables are the Target Up & Up brand, which are identical in quality to Huggies but cost MUCH less.

personally, we really like the Target brand diapers. You can get the bigger box for $20. they are better than Huggies, IMO. we have a 2 1/2 year old boy and 9 month old twin boys, so we go through a LOT of diapers. Good luck!

Parents choice from walmart is best and cheapest. No leaks even through the night. I tried target, luvs, and kroger brand. Luvs leaked at night, krogers did too and were cheaply made, and target were worse than the other two. I have never had a problem and I think they are just as good as name brand with half the
price tag.

I found Target to be the best, over the wholesale places or online. Plus, if you have a Target credit card, you'll keep getting coupons for diapers and other supplies (since they can track your spending). Also, if you haven't already, sign up with the diaper company of your choice online to get coupons.

We got ours from Costco.

Same brand (huggies) but we paid $35 for a giant box of 225 diapers instead of $20 for a normal sized pack of apx 40.

((we couldn't afford cloth diapers. It was about $300 start up cost, and then $80 per month for the cheapest service, $250 per month for the most ecpensive. Cleaning and sterilizing diapers wasn't something we would have been able to do at home. Nearly $1000+300 per year -cheap option-, or $3000 per year instead of 420 per year.))

Cloth diapers. Saves $2000+ depending on what style route you go. Plus they are cute, chemical free and NO BLOW OUTS. I switched from disposables to cloth because my son had constant blow outs. 2-3 times a day. NOT fun.

Target and Walmart brands are good for the price. However, I clip coupons to and wait for deals from either CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid. Once they have a sale and I use my coupons, I can save some bucks that way.
