I don't use a diaper service. I just rinse them and stick them in a big bucket (with a lid) full of soapy water. When it's full I wash the diapers. Because they soaked for a day or two they come out nice and clean.

Also, get G-diapers at Whole Foods. They are great! You can look them up on the web, too. They have disposable (environmentally friendly) inserts, but you can insert regular cloth diapers if you want to, as well.

Good luck!

Hi S.,
First of all great choice on using cloth diapers! From what I've been reading it takes something outrageous like 500 years for a disposable diaper to break down in a landfill - yikes.
We have been using Austin Diaper Service www.austindiaperservice.com ever since my son was born (8 months ago). Erin, the owner, is fantastic. She also runs Austin Baby. She is so nice and always eager to answer any questions you might have.
I live in Leander and they drive all the way out here, so I know they'll cover Cedar Park as well.
I tried the G diapers for a little while. Thinking they would be nice when we went out. I had so much trouble getting them right. They leaked all over the place. They have a video on their website to help you do it right, but that didn't help me. But I read someone else really likes them, so it could have just been me.

Hope that helps - and congrats on the new baby!!!

I ordered my diapers from http://www.mother-ease.com/ and was very happy with them. I used them until he was 2. They even make training pants that have elastic like underwear. I bought a good diaper pale, installed a kitchen sink sprayer to my toilet(to spray out the poopy), and washed them in my washing machine myself. I used the colorful, very thin kitchen cloths as wipes. It comes out cheaper than a service. The diapers can be used with all of your children (assuming you have more). You just buy bigger covers. The diapers are adjustable. Hope this helps.

I don't know of a diaper service, but you may want to consider the G Diaper (www.gdiapers.com). They are a new alternative in eco-friendly diapers that combines elements of traditional cloth diapers and disposables. We have used them on our daughter for about three months (she is 17 months old now) and like them a lot. You can buy starter sets and refills at both Whole Foods and Central Market. I've never tried cloth, so I can't compare the experience, but I know from talking to those who do that there is a lot less laundry involved with the Gs. Good luck!

S.,
I also use Debbie Does Diapers for my three in diapers. I like that I've never come close to running out and that I don't have to do anything with them except toss them into their container. No bad smell either. I wish more people would use cloth.

Austin baby has a diaper service that goes all over! But honestly we cloth diaper and I do all the washing here at the house, it is easy and is more economical that way. If you would like more information I would be more than happy to share my tricks and favorite diapers!
