Diaper Rash Turned Yeast Infection (thrush)....HELP!!
Hello there-
my son has a diaper rash that has turned into a yeast infection. I have been using Vusion ($250 a tube) and nystation cream(presribed) I have also been doing cornstarch and washing him frequently. He is getting worse. I have read about athletes foot cream or Monistat. Does anyone have any suggestions besides cloth diapers and running around naked. I really appreciate any help!!
thanks so much
HG

My pediatrician always told us to apply lotrimin first and then A&D ointment on top. It always worked for us.
Good Luck,

okay...I have know that yeast infections are rare in boys. I would be very wary of using a product for women like monistat on a boy. I know that monistat is a good LAST DITCH effort for a yeast infection on a baby girl. The reason is because the medication ios adult strength on her little body.
I would CAREFULLY read the active and inactive ingredients on the monistat and make sure there is anything like estrogen, or progesterin in it. As long as the ingredients are safe a for a boy, i don't see any reason you couldn't use it. I might even take it to the pharmacist and see if it was safe to use on a stubborn yeast infection on a boy.
Good Luck!!! ;-)

Use lotrimin (it's for athlete feet and it's the same sort of bacteria). It works wonders

Don't use diaper rash creams they will just irritate it even more. How long has he had it? It took about two weeks for my sons to clear up we used nystatin and lotrimin.
