Diaper Rash A&D?

I agree with everyone who has mentioned Butt Paste! That stuff was a godsend when my daughter was little. The other thing I cannot live without is Aquaphor. I put it on my daughter to this day (and she's 5). It's also great to put on as a preventative cream. It's made by Eucerin and is extremely gentle! Lastly anything with calendula is good too. It's a holistic healing agent and Whole Foods has a great baby care line with it in it. Good luck!

Have you looked at your baby's diet? I know that my daughter gets a rash when she eats too many gerber crunchies or other 'baby' dry snack food. I have to go back to cheerios for snack time for a while. Also, Indian food does the same thing...
I use butt cream and it works fine for her.

Try something with Zinc in it. Also, just a trick. Use a spray bottle of water and a blow dryer to dry baby's bum rather than wipe. Keep setting cool. It will help lessen the irritation.

Bordeaux's Butt paste or Vermonts Bag Balm both work wonders!

Ditto on the yeast infection. Google images and you can pretty much tell if its a yeast infection or not. If you think it is then you can use Lotramin AF 3 times a day. Otherwise, use original Desitin, not the creamy. If your not sure go to the doctor, my little girl had a staph infection that I thought was a diaper rash, she ended up needing an RX.

Slap on that Triple Paste!!! It worked wonders for my daughter! She used to get extremely BAD diaper rashes and that stuff would clear it up in two diaper changes!

I use an a product called Avalon Organics diaper balm. It works beautifuly. I use it every night and since then my son hasn't had diaper rash at all. You can find it online or at a whole foods market or any other natural foods market. All other products have things in it babies are allergic or sensitive to like fragrance. Try it out you'll love it.

I have used butt paste with some success. However, my new favorite is Comforts diaper rash ointment. It is 40% zinc oxide and really works well.

It depends on the rash. For the typical rash I used Desitin Creamy or Boudreaux's Butt Paste coupled with corn starch to absorb the moisture and it worked really well. From time to time our son had candida rashes which you will find don't allow the skin to coat with the creams (they just don't stick); in those instances I added distilled vinegar to his bath water and used antifunal creams and corn starch.

Hi Heidi, Butt Paste works really good. However sometimes when a rash won't go away, it's because it is a yeast infection, and not a diaper rash, I learned that with the many babies who how come through my daycare. Happy Hinnie was used for the yeast infections, here's a little advice, with all 3 of our babies my husband and I put a light coat of vaseline on our babies between each changing, 3 kids and no diaper rash the vaseline protects the skin fromj the amonia in the urine. Had the same problem, except that not only did the normal cream not work, it made her blister (ew and ow). Just like the others said, it's probably yeast. If your baby is over 9 months try feeding him/her yogurt, and call your doctor for a prescription for an antifungal.

Nothing works better on my babies' bottoms than Desitin (original, not creamy). Layer it on thick, it sticks well and does miracles, especially overnight. Boudreaux's Butt Paste is also really good. It worked the best for my youngest for a short time, then it didn't seem to help, so I went back to Desitin for him. I also use A&D occassionally, but it doesn't stick on and provide enough of a barrier, in my opinion, for the tough ones. Also, frequent diaper changes. If your baby is newborn, I know it might be tough to stay on top of every wet diaper, but if he/she is a little older and doesn't wet so frequently, try to change the diaper as soon as you know it is wet, and especially right after a bowel movement.

triple paste. my son got a really bad diaper rash one time. we only used triple paste for like 2 days and it worked. :]

Calmoseptine works better then all of the others mentioned. Clears up a rash with in a day. Its really thick. Look for it on line, or specialy drug store. My nurse friend swore by butt paste, then I let her try some calmoseptine. She threw away the tub of butt paste! It works really good. Do make sure its not a yeast infection, if it is you will need nystatin.
