She may be allergic to disposable diapers and/or wipes. If you haven't considered cloth diapers before, it's worth looking into.

My son got really bad diaper rashes a few times when he was younger. The only thing that worked for us is a cream with a high concentration of zinc oxicde - the Desitin (origional, not creamy) works the best for him. When his butt is bad I use only wet washclothes, no wipes. I clean him off that way and try to let him dry then but a think layer of the cream on. I especially load it on for night time or during long naps. When he wakes up it's less red but may take a day or so to go away.

A couple times we had yeast issues so I'd put the Rx from the doctor on first then the diaper rash cream after that. My doctor also suggested neosporan to help the healing process.

If it does seem like yeast and tends to come back you can also try a baby probiotic. We mix it in my son's milk once a day. Since we started that he hasn't had problems again. I get it from Whole Foods. Just make sure it's a baby one or feed her yogurt if she's at that stage, that helps with yeast as well.

It could be a yeast infection. Google baby yeast infections to see what they look like and compare your daughter's to those. If it is a yeast infection, you might want to try an anti-fungal topical medicine on it--that is the only thing that makes my daughter's yeast infections go away. You can also try baths with baking soda--that helped my daughter but didn't make it disappear.

After you check to see if this one is a yeast rash.

#1 change diaper brands. my girlfriends dautghter seemed to always have a rash, once she changed brands. They went away.

#2 you can use Vaseline as a protective barrier daily, to keep her bottom protected from the diaper.

#3 Try offering her water, maybe her urine is very strong and causing some of the problems. My brother used to get rashes bad, and the doc said that he just needed more water in his diet to help "weaken" his urine.

I'd highly recommend switching to cloth. Save for that, change your daughter twice as often as you normally do and try Bert's Bees. Burt's bees is worth every penny.

It could be a yeast infection if she still has the rash after a week. Google it and look at pics. My dd just had one last week and it's finally clearing up. I called my pedi and they had me put Lotrimin on it 4x per day. It's working well!

after making sure it's not a yeast rash when changing her just use warm washcloths with water only on them, let her diaper area dry completely before putting the diaper on. also, is she on solids or formula? it could be something in her diet that is causing it. I used Triple Paste and find it works the best even though it's $$$.

You can get Zinc Oxide at the pharmacy counter at Target. It's about $2.50 for a tube and it works great. No added chemicals or perfumes. We love it and it's the only thing we use for a diaper rash.
