buy lotrimin (the foot fungus medication). put that on first, then diaper rash oitment (any kind) then powder. works wonders and will start clearing up immediately. good luck! :)

If everything else you tried fails, try cornstarch. You put it on like you would put on powder and the rash will go away.

I know this is such a hard thing to deal with because you have to try several things to find what works best for you.
When my son started having diaper rashes I turned to Boudroux Butt Paste and that worked for awhile. When the rash was really bad and that didn't work, my doctor recomened Dr. Smith's which is pricey, but does work the best for over the counter. If that doesn't help and it gets really bad with bleeding or sores, my doctor had to actually give me a prescription cream which is actually an ulcer medicine that is crushed and mixed with cream. This works the best but should be a last resort because it is expensive and you have to have a prescription. Good Luck.

My son had a diper rash that wouldn't go away and the pediatritian said 1st to try a bath with corn starch in it. When that didn't work he told us to get some lotriman (SP?) it is over the counter medicine for athlete's foot. He said to keep putting it on for 2 weeks even once the rash went away. Hi, There is this cream for horses and cattle and it is amazing it is called Corona you can get it at Wal-Mart at the pharmacy counter you will have to ask for it. It is in a yellow tube with a red cap. Ihave been using it for years on both of my girls and cannot find anything that even compares to it. Even though it says for animals only I promise it is safe for her. I hope you try it and good luck.

Dr. Smiths diaper ointment is the best I have ever tried. Be sure to wipe her every time you change her even if she is just wet. And if this doesnt work it maybe an under lying medical condition. If she has been on any type of antibotics she might have a yeast infection, it looks like diaper rash. Call your pediatrician if it doesnt get better in a few days.

When my daughter used to get bad diaper rash, instead of wipes I would use paper towels (the spendy kind) soaked in warm water with a bit of baby soap in it. It seemed to irritate her skin less so she would heal more easily. Not to mention a lot of naked baby time on a towel on the floor.

Have you tried Boudreaux Butt Paste? It has a funny name but it's worked wonders on my kids...it's thicker than Desitin so it stays and protects a little longer...I love it! :)

When Desitin wouldn't work on my kids I would use just plain cornstarch, the kind you normally cook with. It's less than a dollar a box and last forever (remember to separate it from your kitchen supply!) Just sprinkle on your baby's bottom like you would with baby powder, or sprinkle all thru her diaper before you put it on her. When my son had a really bad rash I would coat his entire diaper in Desitin, then cover that with the cornstarch before I put it on him. (That way I wasnt having to touch his poor sore bottom) Hope this helps!

The only thing that helped my dd was called CORONA. You can get it at Wal Mart you just have to ask for it at the pharmacy I think. I know it is at Walgreens too. HTH!

I find it helps to use a cornstarch based baby powder with each diaper change and a product called Boudreaux's butt paste. It costs a litte more, but it works.

With my girls, Desityn had very limited effect on their diaper rash. I found that "Dr. Smith" worked wonders. You can find it at Walmart or Walgreens.

I normally use DR. SMITH'S DIAPER RASH CREAM. It is in a small, white, round can or something like that. My oldest son still has diaper rash, so this is the best I can use and it works great by the second diaper change!

I have a little boy (almost two now) and he had worse reactions to Desitin than using nothing at all.

The absolute BEST stuff to use is Dr. Smith's rash ointment. It comes in a little white jar (boxed) and it is kind of expensive (app. $8.00), but well worth it. It cleared my son's rashes up in less than a day every time. It is very thick and relieves the pain of the rash almost as fast as you lather it on. I always put a thick layer on the first time and it helped so fast.

If you can't find Dr. Smith's the next best thing is Dr. Bordeaux's Butt Paste. Funny name, but works pretty good.

Vitamin E Oil works great, I just don't know where to find it. My mother in-law gave me some when my daughter was a baby and I would put some on and then I would put baby powder with Vitamin E in it on top of that, it would clear it up in a couple of days.

Dr. Smiths (in my opinion) is the best diaper rash cream on the market. It is a little pricey, but is so much better than Desitin. If she has a rash that is really red and raised and is in a lot of creases, and doesn't clear up with diaper rash cream, use Lotrimen (its an antifungal, yes its for feet, ask your pediatrician, he'll tell you its okay) because it could be a yeast infection - these are common with little ones because they poop so much and there is yeast in our bowels. Anyway, good luck. Oh, and never underestimate the power of a good "airing out" session. Naked on a towel on a sunny day in front of a window will work wonders!

The best stuff in Dr.Smiths Diper Ointment. It is a little pricey but it worth every penny. My little girl is 5 and still will get a rash. I put it on before bed and it is gone the next morning. I hope this helps.

I found that Desitin always made a rash worse, especially when trying to wipe it off. I always used AD+ Diaper Rash Ointment. It works really fast. I usually found a difference as fast as over night! If the rash is consistant, your child's pediatrician can prescribe something (such as a mix of special medicated rash ointments). Good Luck!

you should call the pedi because it may be yeast, or an allergy to something. don't wait b/c it can get infected.

I also have a little girl and also have problems with reoccuring diaper rash. It seems that rather than it being just a simple rash, she had a yeast rash. Not a yeast infection, but a rash which was due to a yeast. My pediatrician had me use Lomotrin AF (i.e. anti fungal) which I was instructed to put on her 4x daily. This along with allowing her to go diaperless a couple of times per day to help dry the rash out. Another thing which has helped is that I stopped using baby wipes. It seemed to inflame the condition and just using a wet paper towel (i prefer Viva because it is the softest) helped a lot. She is now 8 weeks old and the rash is no longer a problem.

You may want to consider that the rash may be a yeast infection. They are fairly common in girls and don't respond to normal diaper rash treatments. I am not sure if there is an over the counter treatment for babies, but your pharmacist would know. If not, your pediatrician can diagnose and prescribe something. Hope this info helps.

I also used Desitin, on my girls, when they were babies. However, when it didn't help much, with the older one, I used an ointment called "Corona." It's actually a horse wound ointment, but works very well on rashes. You can get it at Drug Emporium, or Wal-Mart. Another thing you might do is check with her Pediatrician, to make sure it isn't a yeast infection (yes, babies can get them, too...from too much moisture). If it is, they can give you a prescription for ointment to treat it. Also, as some of the others responded, changing from disposable to cloth diapers, really helps. You have to change the diapers more often, but, it's cheaper in the long run, and keeps the rashes away, better.

There is a cream called Corona that I swear by. It can clear up even the worst diaper rash really quick. You can buy it at livestock stores like Gebo's or it is sold at wal-mart, but you have to ask for it at the pharmacy. It is a huge tube for only about 8 dollars. You use it just as you would use desitin. My pediatrician told me about it and said it is completely safe for baby! Good luck!

Buy a PLAIN tube of Zinc Oxide. It's usually in the First Aid section; plain, white tube and about $2. Buy a couple while you're at it. Apply it in an obnoxious amount all over the rash area, covering it completely. I mean glob it on. You can then sprinkle cornstarch over the zinc oxide but I only had to do that a couple of times. The zinc oxide always worked very well on its own. All that other stuff; Buttpaste, Dr. Smith's, Desitin, etc. work but only on "normal" rashes.
If the zinc oxide doesn't help, then you need to make an appointment to see the Pediatrician because it could be a viral or bacterial infection.

Maybe switch her diaper. She might be allergic to the diaper or the baby wipes. Try the sensitive wipes by pampers. I hope this helps.

I know this may sound crazy but when my girls where infants I used this stuff called Corona Ointment (ointment only, none of the other Corona products). You can only get this from a feed store. My mother used it on me and my sister. I took it to my pediatrician and she loved it so much she was recommending it to her other patients. It is mostly lanolin but other natural ingredients.

You have to make sure the skin is dry when you apply it because it is so thick it will hold moisture in. But you will see a difference over night, I promise you.

use A&D ontiment it is sold at walmart you will find it right next to the desitin.

When my girls where babies they got rashes very easily. They has high acid content. Anyway the doctor can give you a prescription for some diaper rash cream called Happy Hiney. But it is the same basicly as DR. Smiths that you can get over the counter. But make sure you let the little one hair out. My grandmother use to open the curtains and let the sun shine on it she said it would heal faster. I dont' understand it but hey it worked.

If it's just diaper rash, try Boudreaux Butt Paste instead of the Desitin. My 2nd daughter had a sensitive bottom and that was a really great product for her. Since she's a newborn, you will probably be going to the pediatrician again in a few weeks or so. If changing her diaper brand, wipes, or cream doesn't work definitely ask the pediatrician because there are prescription creams that might help, it might be a yeast-based infection. Good luck!

My son jus got over having a diaper rash and here's what I did: with every diaper change, I apllied a little baby powder and put Aveeno Baby diaper rash cream over the area. Also, how long has she had the rash? Does it look like it might be turning into a yeast infection? If that's the case, an OTC antifungal cream would clear that up. Hope this was helpful!

My son used to always get really bad diaper rash. The best stuff in the world is "Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment". It comes in a tube or jar and the only place I have been able to find it is at H-E-B. It is way better then Desitin. Also, I always tried to let him "air out" on a waterproof pad. Just a few times a day really help out.

We always used Corona Salve. You can find it in any pharmacy. But you may have to ask for it.

I suggest you try Dr Smiths diaper rash ominent I used it for bad rashes when i worked at a day care and it was the best by far. and congraulations on the birth of your precious baby girl. V.

Corona is the best! It always helped my kids when they had really bad rashes. And you could lay out a blanket and let her go without a diaper for a little bit with the corona on the rash. You can get the corona at any pharmacy , just go to the counter and they have it. good luck!

1. Call your pediatrician. You may be looking at a bacterial infection (staph) that has gotten into the diaper rash.

2. Try plain yogurt. No sugar, no fruit. If it is a yeast infection (also a possibility) this will take it away in less than 24 hours.

My youngest daughter had SERIOUS diaper rash.

I used all the usual remedies destin, corn starch, a&d ointment.Her bottom was so sore it would bleed in some spots. I took her to the Dr. he gave me a prescription, all of those did not work. I finally switched to cloth diapers..I know you are saying yuck!I used cloth diapers and did not put on the plastic panties over them, that would be like using a disposable diaper, and when ever possible i would let her go bare bottom..When she would lay in her crib I would put extra blankets under her to keep her from getting the bed soiled.I still used the a&d in addition and her bottom got better in a little over a week..Be prepared to do laundry! Your daughter's diaper rash may be yeast. Easy to fix. You may need a quick MD appt. or your pediatrician may just be able to call in a prescription for nystatin powder. Use it for a few days to clear things up, but you will notice an improvement the first day.

I run a at home daycare. I have always used is Corona. It is an Antiseptic, it says that it is used on horse,cattle, small animals, and pets! Dont pay attention to that! Everyone uses it. My grandma used it on me, and I am 41 years old. Make sure you dry the area good don't wipe because that will burn and hurt the baby just tap dry. Then smooth it on like destin. You can add a little cornstarch Baby Powder too to help keep things dry!! If this doesn't help in a couple of days then!!! You might have a yeast infection!!! Yes babies get them!!! Take the baby to the Dr!!!

We went through this recently with my granddaughter. We discovered that she has an allergy to any kind of baby wipes and only use warm wash cloths on her bottom. The wipes would dry her bottom out and make the diaper rash worse. We finally resorted to seeing the doctor and he prescribed a medication to use on her. Also, there is something out now called Butt Paste and that works really well on regular rashes. Also allow her to lay on towels and let her bottom get some air. Diapers hold in a lot of moisture and that just creates further irritation.

My daughter gets it real bad after she has diarria or heat rash. I called her dr and they gave me a perscriptson for silverdin?? its for chemical burns. it works great.. u put in the freg and it cold to apply and only 2 times a day.her rash was gone after one day.. also soak in bakeingsoda i was told was very good to. and that works also. good luck

Some things that worked for my children were just plain old zinc oxide....this is in desitin along with some other stuff, but if you can find one with zinc oxide and nothing else, it always seemed to work like magic. A and D ointment in the yellow tube is used a lot in the hospital. A nurse told me once that when a diaper rash is really severe, put Maalox on it. Also, see if there's not a time that you can let her go without her diaper for a little while....especially if you can be in the sun with her on her tummy, because the sun will help dry up the rash and it will feel much better. One note here though....my youngest child suffered from ecxema, and she would get what we thought were horrible diaper rashes when it was really a serious skin disorder. The way that we found out it was something else, was when she started having the same rash on her face, arms, and legs. She also had asthma, which supposedly caused the ecxema, and this all could have been life threatening if we had not gotten her to a specialist, and gotten the right medicine for her skin and lungs.

I know you have gotten tons of advice...but here is some more. I use desitin when my little girl gets a rash. Also, recently when she got a rash I put her in the next size diaper, it really helped. I think getting a little extra space down there to "breath" might help. Also, as a preventative you can use the clear (no zinc oxide) A&D everytime you change her, daily! I also HAVE to use the pampers sensitive baby wipes. If nothing else, try these wipes, they have helped many of my friends as well.

Same thing happened to my little one. Butt paste worked but it always seemed to come back. As soon as I switched to cloth diapers she stopped having diaper rashes all together. I loved them, they're really not as bad as they used to be. I bought fuzzi bunz at www.thanksmama.com

My son has that same problem. I took him to the doctor and she prescribed an ointment that cleared it up very quickly. And to prevent it from happening again, I always rub a generous amount of vaseline on him after each diaper change. The vaseline keeps the moisture from sticking to his skin and it's the moisture that causes the chafing and the rashes. Hope this helps.

After my oldest son was born, he'll be 12 y.o. this month, we were coming back from vacation in California and he got a relly bad diaper rash from sitting in the car so long. I did take him to the doctor cuz it was bleeding a little and the Doc told me a dipaer rash is a yeast infection, get were I am going with this, After the Doc appt. I had a friend tell me to use Monistat or any yeast infection cream for women and it works, cleared it right up, I have used it on my first two boys and will use it on #3.. The other two I have on hand come to think about it that work for mild diaper rashes are Zinc Ox. or A&D.. I guess if moms used Lotrim (sp?)which is used on feet I wouldn't see why Monistat wouldn't work we would use it if we had yeast infections.. once again good luck..

Again, I know you have heard a million responses on this..but this has worked overnight for my daughter who has diaper rashes ALL the time.

Half of Dr. Smith (circle)
Half of Hydrocorzion cream
Half of Lotrimon (not generic it doesn't work well)

Mix together and apply a thick paste with powder (with corn starch) and that should do the trick. Good luck

Triple paste medicated ointment works great, and putting powder on top, contiuously throughout the day. A&D always worked really well also.

If there are little red bumps between the folds of her skin, not just redness in her diaper area, it is probably a yeast infection. My daughter had this, and her pediatrician recommended Lotrimin, which worked great. Good luck!

Powder with Starch in it and Beaudreax's (not sure on spelling) butt paste, it works wonders on my daughter!
