My four month old daughter recently started getting diaper rash, a little redness and a few bumps, nothing i havent seen before. At first it would clear up with zinc oxide cream aftera day or two. Now i cant get rid of it and she's getting large blisters on her inner thighs where the inner liner of the diaper is. I make sure its not on too tight, change frequently. I even stopped using baby wipes and only a washcloth with clearwater to clean her. I give her as much time as i can each day with no diaper on at all,i just dont know what else to do as soon as one disappears theres one in a new spot.I tried changing the brand of diaper and that didnt do it either.I heard it could be from teething(shes got 4 teeth coming all at once)but im not sure, has anyone else experienced these kind of blisters and persisistant rash?

What can I do next?

I would bring her to the doctor and ask the dr if it's a yeast infection, as opposed to a regular diaper rash. These can be hard to get rid of, unless you have the proper cream.

I also dont know if she is cranky, but I know it can be very uncomfortable.

I went through the same thing with my daughter. I hated it and no matter what I did nothing worked. My doctor prescribed me this ointment called Vusion. It is fairly new and it was a miracle worker. You are supposed to use it every time you change his diaper and continue to use it for 5 days once the rash cleared up. Good luck!

My son, who was a terrible teether, used to get the same thing. Sometimes it would get so bad that he would bleed. The only thing that seemed to work with him was corn starch on his bottom and in his diaper. Good Luck! I was so very happy when his last tooth came in!

hi R., the best thing ever is this natural herb called Bur Marigold. it might be hard to find, i dont know if its sold in regular pharmacies. this herb is used by all Russian moms through the ages, you brew the herb (like tea) and pour it in the bath tub , let your baby sit there, absolutely safe and natural even if she swallows it or drinks it. 1-2 baths and the rash disappears like it was never there. it waorks like majic. i really recommend for anyone to try it, its amazing, best of all Natural & Safe for any skin type. i know its sold in Russian pharmacies (brooklyn and queens neigbrhoods) in russian its called Chereda.

Hi R., I think it definitly has to do with teething especially with 4 all at once! You need to slather her in diaper rash cream....not the creamy kind, the thick kind and a lot of it and try not to wipe it off each time you cange her and powder around the where the diaper may be tight...And all over her when she has no diaper on. Is it the same diaper rash lotion you have been using? It usually gets better after teeth come in, my son used to get it and still does when his teeth are coming in, it usually clears up by doing what I did. Hope this may help a little bit! L.

From my experiences it is most like to be from laundry products you are using. Remember you are not only washing the clothes, but they are also sleeping on them. and when you put something on the skin it aborbs into the skin. any further question ask. M.

We use aquafor and a dose of Tylenol before bed for discomfort and inflammation. My son would get it so bad he wouldnt let us put anything on it. I put squeeze the aquafor into a clean diaper and then kinda smoosh it after I got the diaper on. It worked!!!
Good Luck!

Sometimes it's more then a diaper rash. It can be a yeast infection as well. Are the bumps raised a little and shiny. It could be yeast. Talk to your doctor's office about getting Nystantin cream. When I was breastfeeding my son we got thrush (oral yeast infection) it's very common. And the pedi office told me that typically it isn't just in the mouth but the whole digestive tract start to finish. The cream helped to clear things up. Sometimes he still gets it if he gets a bad diaper rash. Also, you can use a cream called Triple Paste. It's the best stuff for stubborn diaper rash, but very expensive. Nothing else is thick enough to keep my son's skin dry. And Aveeno makes a oatmeal baby wash (tan bottle pink top) that works great. Give her a bath in that a couple times a day and add baking soda to nautralize the acid in the poop.

R., when a baby gets diaper rash, it is usually because moisture gets trapped in the diaper somewhere and the sores begin to form. My last child had severe diaper rash ad yeast infections all the time. If I wasn't slathering rash creams all over him, I was getting prescriptions from the doctor UNTIL i figured out that the way to stop the rash was to make sure his diaper area was dry all the time. After you change her diaper, also follow up with Corn Starch or Caldescene powder to her enitre diaper area, including the folds of her thighs. the powder will absorb any residual moisture and I can almost guarantee that the rash will soon dissappear. If it is actually yeast it will be tiny small clusters of little red bumps that if get severe enough can form into big groupings of blisters. If they are bleeding at all, most doctors will ususally prescribe Nystatin.
Hope this helps.

Call your pediatrician - it may not be diaper rash but a vaginal fungus or infection....which is easily treatable w/ Lotrimin.

Hi. I sort of had the same problem with my daughter and her pediatrician said it was actually yeast. She didn't have large blisters but it might be the same thing. Try using lotrimin (very thin layer) with the diaper changes and of course keep doing what you're doing with letting her air dry, etc...
You should notice a difference almost immediately (I did anyway) If that doesn't help, maybe give her pediatrician a call to get it looked at.
Hope that helps :)

Hi R.,

My name is C. and my son Frankie is 10 months. He got his first diaper rash at almost 2 months and it got worse and worse until he had those little blisters. I even had a prescription ointment from my doctor that didn't help. He still gets a rash once in a while but they don't get that bad anymore, The most effective and simplist solution I found was letting him soak in a warm bath, drying him off and letting his bottom air dry, then I put lots of vasiline for over night. By the morning it is usually gone. Hope this helps!

IF this is indeed a diaper rash, i agree 100% with the 1st response! AQUAPHOR!!! i would suggest it to anyone and everyone. my mother used it on us, and i use it on my daughter (and it can be used for many things other then just diaper rash!). my daughter's 2nd set of teeth that came in were 4 at once just like your child, and she also got horrible diaper rash, even some blisters, and the aquaphor worked. after about 2 maybe 3 days of aquaphor (and some airing out, just like you do) it was almost completely gone, and didn't bother her at all! JUST GOB IT ON until it seems she's more comfortable. but i would also check with her pediatrician. it could be from detergent, or fabric softner (my daughter got lil bumps all over her body until i decided to keep it down to just liquid, and no fabric sheets). but it may also be a yeast infection, and if it is, you want to get her cream as soon as possible to get rid of it. i've had an external yeast infection before (after surgery) and it was extremely painful. it took a few days of the cream to go away. so i'd say just gob on the aquaphor until the dr. can see her! good luck, and let us know how she's doing!

Good Morning, Does your little one attend a daycare or similar setting? If so, it sounds like this rash maight be coxsaki. It first appears as a rash and as it is healing blisters may appear. It is spread through feces, unclean hands. My little girl also had this (she goes to daycare), and at first I thought it was an allergic reaction to the diapers. Desitin did not clear it up as usual. Check with your pediatrician. Good Luck, N.

My daughter had the same kind of rash (at least it sounds like it from your description) and her doctor said that it was a bacterial problem and prescribed an ointment called Bactriban. This was after he had told me to try both lotramin and nystatin ointments, neither one helped. By the next day her rash look a lot better, and in a couple more days it was gone all together. You should really talk to your doctor about this before it gets any worse. One of the blisters popped and got infected, creating an abcess that had to be cut and drained at the hospital. That is something no 6 month old should have to go through. Hope this helps and hope everything clears up soon.

My daughter had the same thing and it was because she was allergic to the diapers. I had started out with Pampers Swaddlers and then switched to Huggies when she outgrew the Swaddler size. I had no problems until I decided to buy the Pampers Cruisers, thats when the rash began. I switched back to the huggies and it went away. Then I figured I would try Luvs, and the rash came back. Turns out that she is allergic to pretty much every diaper I have tried except for the Huggies. I don't know what brands you have tried or if you have tried the Huggies at all, but they are working great for my daughter. Also, you can try some Cloth diapers. It's a little more work with them, but if the rash is caused by the diapers than the Cloth ones may help it a lot. Here is a link for a GREAT cloth diaper company. They send you different brands and styles and you can try them for 3 weeks to see if you like them. It's only $10 to try them too. http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/cdcm.html

It's certainly related to the teething. I've never found one "cure all" for diaper rash, but pouring Malox over the infected area and letting it dry has been helpful.
