Diaper Problems - Saint Peters,MO

We never had any type of peeing or poopy problem w/ Luvs. Always worked great and are cheap too! Well, cheaper.

I never looked at the weight on the diaper sizes. We put our daughter in 5's when she turned one, too. I thought, this will never work - they only go up to 6, she'll outgrow them before she's ready to potty train! But she will be 2 in a couple of weeks and is just now ready for 6's. We found Luvs to work well for us, too, although as she got bigger, Pampers became my favorite. We usually still buy the Luvs unless the Pampers are on sale and we have a coupon.

Well sometimes diapers just don't fit right even if they are within the weights on the package. For example my girl is about 25-26 lbs but the diapers would start sagging really bad because she is really active and soaks everything. She also doesn't let you know when she has went. so since she has been wanting to be a big girl so i switched to an off brand of pullups and it works better for her.

Have you tried Luvs?I have never had Luvs leak and I have babysat,have 3 children,and worked in daycare.The only other thing I could think of is Huggies supreme.I loved the Huggies supreme and my kids were famous for blow outs! However ever child is different on the way diapers fit them.I would not think going up a size would do anything for the pooping out,especially through the legs.Another thing you might think about is if he is pooping out of the diapers on a regular basis is his poop too lose?Maybe something is upsetting his stomach.That was always the case when my kids were having blow outs,unless they were sick with the stomach bug.For example my son can not drink milk or soy milk.

I had the same issue with my son. He just couldn't keep anything inside at night. I was changing sheets every single day. I ended up going to the nightime pull ups AND sometimes putting an additional diaper on over it. Most of the time the pull up did the trick because they seem to come up on their bellies and back more. Now, as far as the weight thing... my son hasn't ever been on the low end of anything in regards to clothes and diapers but I have found that their weight estimates aren't exactly the best. I think it depends on the shape of the child. You may want to go ahead and try going up a size to see if that assists as well. Oh, they also make Huggies night diapers (not pull ups but diapers). That helped with my daughter.

The best kind I have found is Luvs. I won't use anything else!

If you don't want to switch to a bigger size have you tried Luvs. I use to use love Pampers but then tried luvs once because they cost less and I liked them just as much. I did not like huggies I didn't think they did a good enough job.

I agree with the others that said to go to the next size. The when the child is that close to the high end of the weight chart its best to go the next size bigger. I have read everyone talking about the name brand diapers but for my 2 kids, I used parents choice, a Walmart brand with no problem at all! It was cheaper and worked just as well. I've only had maybe a handful of them leak and we are talking about 6 years worth of diapers! They might work for you and you can save a couple of bucks too. Good luck!

Night time diapers helped with my daughter soaking through her diapers with urine. Maybe they will help with the poop too? Good luck.

I can't speak strongly enough about the overnight diapers. They are awesome! Our oldest started using them at about one year, and he still uses them at 2 1/2 years. They are a bit more expensive, but I figure that they save me time with dirty sheets, dirty pajamas, dirty walls, and waking up in the middle of the night to a sad child. They are worth their weight in gold!

I am sure someone has already suggested this but I LOVE the overnight diapers. I swear by them - I have all of my friends using them - they are wonderful! I use the Huggies brand during the day, and I dont have a problem with them as long as I change him about every 1-2 hours...the night time diapers are a blessing - I have never had a problem with them and they have never leaked. My son is 1 and is almost 26 lbs - so roughly the same size as your son...I think this could be the answer you are looking for!

Boy,I bet this is a mess to clean up! My 19mo old hasnt pooped at night since she was tiny,so I cant imagine what that situation is like to clean. We are having some issues with pee leakage tho. I switched from Pampers to Luvs and noticed that the sizes run bigger. A 4 in Pampers cruisers is quite a bit smaller than Luvs jumbo. I wouldnt switch to the size 5 yet.You could try the Luvs,but like I said,they do have a tendency to leak around the belly if they get too full.(My daughter sleeps on her belly)But,the back is higher.Pampers hold and fit better.
I have heard about some moms wrapping a strip of duct tape around the top of the diaper at night to prevent leaking...

You could also try putting on a pair of plastic pants over his diaper at night.You know,the kind that goes over panties when they are potting training.
I just wish they would invent a diaper that does all we need it to do. Be nice,huh?

We had this problem with both of our boys! Don't worry about the weight on the package, just go up the next size. For us Huggies were the only thing that worked, but we never used the weight on the package. If going up a size doesn't work, then keep trying different brands!

My son weighs 25 pounds and has been in size 5 for awhile now. I have worked with a lot of children over the last few years and I know that those weights are just a guide. If the smaller size isn't working, go for the bigger size. If it doesn't end up being the right answer, you can always save them for later. One thing you can do if the 5's don't solve the problem is place a larger diaper, maybe a 6? over the size 4's when he is sleeping, that way the bigger diaper will catch anything that leaks.

We had a lot of problems with our daughter "peeing out" of her Huggies when she was only a couple of months old. We switched her to Luvs. Man, they hold everything ! We always switch her up to the next size when she is a pound or two below the "starting weight" for the next size diaper... I don't know if trying Luvs would help you out, but it really made a difference for us.

i have had the same problem with huggies in the past month, switched to luvs and haven't had any problems.

I would also recommed size 5. my son is 21 months, 23 lbs (preemie) and has been in size 5 for about 3 or 4 months eventhough he's uder the wieght. On the huggies, the clousers compltely overlap eachother, on the Luvs they meet, but don't overlap

My son, 3 1/2, was a heavy wetter at night -- we used pampers cruisers and just dealt with changing sheets/pjs regularly. I now have a 14mo. daughter that is also a HEAVY wetter at night and she's been in cloth diapers (mostly) since birth. Her cloth diapers leak around the leg holes at night (even with two inserts placed inside) and I really don't want to put 2-3 inserts in her diaper because it makes them too bulky. Pampers cruisers (which were the most affective with my son at night) get soaked through the 'body' of the diaper. I've been using a combo of the two at night for 4 or so months (a cruiser on first and the outside portion of her cloth diapers on second) which had eliminated all leaking. I know your issue is #2 and my daughter has NEVER had a poop blow-out of her cloth diapers (when my son was little he used to blow-out of disposables ALL the time)... so I'm very confident that the cloth will do the trick keeping everything IN the diaper. If your son isn't a heavy wetter, you could always try the cloth diaper with its insert rather than pamper/cloth combo to keep the cost down on pampers (I don't know that you can purchase the liner/inserts separately anyway). I use BumGenius 3.0 one-size diapers (fit from 0-35lbs) from Cottonbabies in South County. They have a re-sale program, so you could purchase a couple of them from the used bins at a discounted price (you really don't need the inserts, but I'm not sure that you can purchase the liner separately.) BTW - I THINK I'M GOING TO GIVE LUVS A SHOT AGAIN. THEY DIDN'T WORK WITH MY SON AT ALL, BUT THE POSITIVE RESPONSES TO THEM IN REGARDS TO YOUR POST MAKE ME THINK THAT THEY MAY HAVE IMPROVED IN THE PAST 3 YEARS.
