Are you making sure that the ruffles are not tucked in around the leg?

Hey C. I had the same problem with my son. He would leak through is diaper all the time. Once he got a bit older he stopped but we have always used huggies and now have been leak free since newborn diapers.

My preference was Huggies. The only time I had problems was for a "blow-out" or when mine was about to switch to a new size. I also would run a finger down the sides of the diaper to make sure the "elastic" portion was not sticking to the diaper. A freind of mine swore by the Wal-mart brand...

Have you tried Huggies? I found them to work the best for my girls. You may just need to switch brands until you find one that may work.

Luvs work very well for us (and they are cheaper than Huggies or Pampers)

Congrads on the girl!! I don't know too many people that are having girls!!! Anyway, Huggies and Luvs diapers work great for my son. He's almost in pull ups now but those two worked great AND if you go to their sites you can sign up for coupons to get $$ off when you buy!! I got some last week for $2 off diapers or $1.50 off on shampoo/lotions!! Check it out!!

Pampers worked on for the first week for my son, then he'd leak everywhere in them. Luvs did the same. Huggies was the only diaper till he was older that didn't leak

Maybe try another diaper?? I really like huggies. They tend to be a little expensive but my son NEVER has leaks...

I used a Walmart brand that was called overnight diapers. Can't remember the name. They worked great for my son. Not to expensive. But I only used them at night so they lasted a while. Hope this helps you. Also LUVS brands really worked well for my daughter. They were what I used for my son during the day.

Honestly you may need to go up a size but if you dont want to try that just yet.....try Luvs diapers. Pampers always gets a damp feeling and I've tried Huggies too, but Luvs seems to be better and are cheaper. I found w/my foster children that the store brands didn't work...always leaked. That's just what I tried and is the best advice I can give. Good luck.

Pampers Swaddlers never worked for me either, I tried Luvs once and have never used anything else since!! I love them and they are less expensive than the other name brands.

I had the exact same problem with my son who is now 10 months old. We were using Pampers or Luvs and almost everytime he pooped it went all the way up his back!!! We switched to Huggies and have found that because they have a stretchy back (it hugs their back right above their butt), they work really well containing the leaks. If you sign up with their website, they send you coupons for $1.50 off. Hope this helps.

I would try moving up a size anyway. I use Target diapers for my 7 month old son and 2 year old daughter. I have never had a leak problem, and they are so much cheaper! If moving up a size doesn't work, then I would try another brand, like Huggies. I have found that Luvs and Pampers leak all the time. Try making them tighter around her waist. I had that problem with my first one until I made the diaper tighter, and then they never leaked. You should only be able to slide a finger in the waist band, no looser than that. It works like a charm.

You may already be doing this, but I found when I took special care to spread that elastic out around my sons butt cheeks it helped. I would never have thought of that except that one of my single friends mentioned it when I was pregnant. She was surprised at all the things you have to know when you become a parent that the average person doesn't know. I acted like, oh, yeah, sure. I knew that. :-) Thank goodness for her because the times I forgot to pull that elastic out it seemed like he leaked. Just FYI, I used Pampers Baby Dry when he was little little and when he started to crawl I switched to Pampers Cruisers. The Huggies leaked more for my son, but maybe there is something to theory of gender differences in the brands. Good Luck!

I would try going up a size anyway. I have a 5 month old and he went through the sizes very quickly. Everytime his diapers would start to leak I would try a bigger size. If that doesnt work at least they wont be a waste. You will eventually need them. Good luck!

Congrats on your baby girl! I have two in diapers and I use papmers baby dry for both of them. I have never had a problem with them leaking, but every time I leave them with my mom they go through many outfits. I think that she puts the diapers on too loose. Try making sure that they fit her snug enough.

Do you have an Ingles in your area? The Supreme Laura Lynn brand diapers are great to keep leaks away. I use those over night on my son because he can get through the night without leaking. They are little more expensive than the regular LL brand but not as expensive as Pampers.

I feel for you! I was changing diapers constantly at the same age for that very reason. Huggies and Seventh Generation were the only ones that worked on my little one at that size/stage. I love Seventh Generation because they're cloth-like, fit great and aren't full of chemicals- cost more though. You can find them at Whole foods.

Luvs are the best diapers.. Also you have to watch the store brand my son got diaper rash when i would use them.. good luck

i use huggies and at night i will use luvs leakguard on my 5 mo. old. Seems like when i use luvs at night she has not had any more leaks. Also, make sure that around your babies waist

I definitely agree with a few of the moms... Make sure all of the ruffles are out when you are putting on the diaper. Make sure it's snug. Also Pamper's Swaddlers must have been the worst diaper I have ever used. I used Huggies from the beginning (even the hospital used Huggies) and I never had problems... Now I have a huge case of Pampers Swaddlers and their clothes are getting wet. I can't wait till the case is done so I can go back to Huggies.

I know you said that you don't think you should go up a size, but I actually had leaking problems with both of my children when they were still newborns.... and I ended up going up a size because I couldn't figure out why in the world they kept leaking.... it helped both times. Sometimes the diapers seemed like they swallowed them whole, but the leaking stopped! The weight on the package sometimes isn't the best either... hope you find a solution!

Hi C.! I had the same issue with my son who is 8 weeks old! I use the Huggies Stage 1 and they are great! I was using Pampers and hated them--- No need to go up in size yet though..my guy is almost 11 lbs. now and still able to use stage 1. I really think the brand sometimes has a lot to do with it!! I have found that with both of my daughters, I have the least leaks with Luvs diapers.

Also - going up a size does usually stop the leaks. Give it a try with a small pack.

My name is K..... I have always used Luvs... never had a problem with them.

My two daughters and my sisters daughters both did the same thing... causing me to think that for some reason between 6 and 8 weeks (right when you start taking them out more, of course!) they're bowel movements become more forceful and "explosive" which also caused me to switch to a different brand diapers... but when the same thing happened with girlie number two I resigned myself that their little bodies just do that. It'll be over in a while... in the meantime, get the next size up diaper, it really doesn't matter which one, in my opinion.

My son is almost 12 weeks old and I still have the problem at times. I probably used newborn size on him until he was a little over 9lbs, almost 10lbs. I use the Pampers Swaddlers. Another trick I've learned is to make sure that the elastic part around the legs allows the extra part of the diaper to cover his legs. I found that Toys 'R' Us sells Pampers Swaddlers in Newborn size that go up to 10 lbs and they worked really well. It may be that the diapers are too loose or not pulled up enough on her back to prevent it from leaking out. Hope you have some luck.

Even though she is within the weight range, you still may need to move up a size. She may just pee more than the average 9lb. Or she may weigh more than what you think she does. My kids moved up from size one to two pretty quick, before the weight on the package because of how much they peed. I loved pamer swadders, but once my daughter started peeing out of those i just move to pampers Baby Dry. I haven't have a leak at all with those.

The only ones that worked for us to stop the leaks were the Luvs brand - and those worked great for us (and they're cheap!). Blessings

I kept my son in newborns for awhile, because of the same problem. She is probably to small for number 1, even though the size is right it never is. I noticed that as I go along.

The Wal-Mart brand works really good. I tried every brand with both of my children and this brand worked really good.

My favorite diaper became Huggies Supreme. They are more expensive, but I rarely had leaks.
In talking to others, it sounds like people with boys tend to like Pampers and people with girls tend to do better with Huggies.
Just an opinion...

LUVS! We had the same problem. Luvs worked great!and were easier on the pocketbook,too.

hi my son is now 2 but the best diaper i could suggest is the huggies baby fit or comfort curves that move with baby i have had no problems with those i tried loves and pampers and neither one did any good so just switch or if you have any friends with children the same age and they use different brands try one of theirs instead of going out and spending all your $ on every kind of diaper there is

Hello there!! Frist off Congradulations on your new baby girl. I just wanted to say that I have always used LUVS on my children. I started useing them 18yrs ago when I had my daughter and have had three more sons since then, 15, 11 and 5 months. When we had our last one there was no question which brand we would use. A couple of times we had to get different brand and he leaked right out of them. So I ended right back to buying LUVS. My Husband says if something is working than why change it. So I guess he is right LUVS have never let me down so why change it. I hope that you can find a diaper that works for you soon.

No, go up a size. A baby does go to the bathroom a lot, and even though she is only 9 lbs. and can still fit the smaller diapers, her bladder says otheriwse. :-) I had that same problem with my baby, and as soon as I moved up a size, problem solved.

Mother to Mother...the best kind of diapers to buy are LUVs. They are the cheapest when it comes to the best diaper. I have two kids, one five and the other is three. I started out using Huggies and then switched to Pampers and even bought some of the cheaper brands. After it was all said and done, Luvs diapers were the best of them all. They never leak,they don't leave those gel bed thingys on their butts when they pee alot and the cost for them is perfect. After figuring all this out, I would never buy another diaper brand. The diapers even smell like baby powders. And if your daughter has sensitive skin...a pediatrition will recommend Luvs. Give em a try, I think you might be pleased.

my son had the same problem but with huggies. i also tried pampers swaddlers and wasnt really big on them. but pampers baby dry was the best. they never leaked. try those in size 1. you will not want to use any other diaper. also luvs are great too. good luck

I've always had good luck with Huggies Supreme. Just make sure they're tight....not too tight (I'm sure you figured that out) but tight. Is she getting wiggly yet? That may be the cause.

My son had that problem for a while. You can't solely judge the diaper size according to the box. My son was a couple pounds more than what was listed and he was still in the given size. Like the others said, make sure the little ruffle isn't tucked into the leg. Hope you get this figured out soon!

PS...I LOVED the Swaddlers and still prefer Pampers! I was sad when my son went to Stage 3 and had to move on from the Swaddlers and into Cruisers.

Luvs diapers should stop that. Congratulations on your new addition too the family!

Actually that happened with my daughter too and I did have to go up a size even though she didn't match the weight indicated on the packageing. So I don't think that those indications are for every child. When I went up a size everytime after a few times of it happening it stopped. So it might be worth a try to buy a bigger size and see if it worked. Also Luvs work great!!! I haven't ever had a problem with them leaking and they seem to run a bit bigger than the other diapers do. Hope this helps!!! :-)

I make sure that the elastic parts are pulled out instead of being stuck to the liner.
After the diaper's on, I run my fingers around the leg holes and pull out to be sure that the elastic is seated properly around the legs.
That stopped our leaks until we got close to the next size. We went up to the next one 3-4 lbs before the listed size.

If she's leaking out of her diaper I would say she needs a bigger diaper

Hey, C.! My girlfriends as well as myself all used the WAL-MART brand. I have tried White Cloud, Huggies, Luvs, Food Lion Brand and all the other kinds out there. His diaper leaked everytime he went to the bathroom and the ONLY diaper that works for him is the WAL-MART brand. I hope this helps and I know anything is worth a try. It's a trial and error sort of thing for mothers, every child is different. GOOD LUCK! How about let me know which one works best for you, just out of curiousity! Funny how some works for one, but not others, LOL.

ps. The weight requirements on the diapers aren't always the best judgement it depends on the child too. I've found that out the hardway.. LOL.. My son is 21 lbs. and is in the size 4. They just fit him better. The wal-mart brand size 4 is like for 30-45 lbs. So, that does not always matter.

I tried Target brand on my son and he leaked through every single one I put on him!! I gave up about 5 diapers into the pack and took them back. I've tried Huggies and one of the Walmart brands but I've found the best on him is Pampers Baby Dry. Now on my daughter I could use Luvs or Huggies (not the supreme-they seem to be cut too narrow in the crotch). Just try different brands and you might want to consider going up a size. When my son starts leaking through the night on a regular basis it's time to go up one size. And the other ladies are right, don't go by the weight on the diapers. All babies little thighs and bellies are shaped differnt and the diaper will fit around them differently.

We use Luv and White Cloud (get at Walmart). Those are both cheap and I have never had a leak. I refuse to use Huggies because they always leaked for me.

I had the same problem with my girls, i tried almost all brands but the ones that worked best of us was and still is Luvs.

You could always try cloth diapers! Kissaluvs size 0 are great for tiny babies.

Check how you are putting the diaper on with the ruffles and everything. My baby boy did the same thing until my husband showed me that I needed to open the duaper all the way, almost flat, and the put it on sungly. Since then I have had only a couple of leaks in the middle of the night.
