Diaper Genie or Diaper Decor?

My next baby is due in March and I am looking to get a new diaper pail. I had the Diaper Champ before and it did not contain the smell well when my daughter started eating solids--STINKY! I have heard mixed reviews on the Genie and the Decor, so let me know which one you like best. My neighbor has the Genie and her daughters room never seems to smell.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I only used the genee, for the first 3 months since i was changing diapers like 20 times a day and the weight at the end of the week was unreal like 40lbs. I opted to change my ways. I now use grocery bags, twist closed in small trash can and at the end of the day I take out to trash can in garage. I feel that those things are such a waste of money, the refills and they dont really work. the smell is there, but the first 3 months or so, babies dont really stink YET

Neither one. I used Diaper Champ.

Hi N.,

Congratulations!! I have a Diaper Decor, but only use it for wet diapers. For dirties we wrap it in a plastic bag/sac and put it in a small pail outside. I think I tried dirty diapers in the Decor once (it was over 2 years ago, so I don't have the clearest memory of it) and it just didn't contain the smell well enough for me.

Good luck! C.

I think mine is the "original" Genie...I love it, except for the fact I never know "when" the film is about to run out, so hopefully that is something they changed when they brought out the Genie 2. (Not a big problem, because I always keep at least 1 "spare" roll on hand.) I do use a more natural disinfectant to clean mine every so often, but if you don't wipe it dry after you spray, it will develop mold (small amounts that are easy to clean) because the environment is warm, moist, and dark, which is what mold loves!

Congrats on the new baby!

I have the diaper genie...it contains the smell very well. Although I dont use it any more. It is quite a pain for us because it fills up so fast and I hate emptying it due to the smell. So we just use a trash can that you would put in your bathroom. When it fills up we pull the plastic bag out and empty it in the trash can in the garage.

Good Luck.

I have the diaper genie 2 and LOVE it! I didn't buy anything when my daughter was an infant, but once she started on solids the smell was overwhelming! The diaper genie 2 keeps the stink in...I highly recommend it!

If you live in a house with a garage, save your money! We just take our dirty diapers to the trash can in the garage. We had a diaper genie when we lived in an apartment, but got rid of it as soon as we bought our house. The trash can in the garage smells when you open it, but it is in the garage, so who cares? We have had two kids since moving to this house and are having another in February and odor in the house has never been a problem and the garage usually doesn't smell either.

I used the Diaper Champ and will again. It really worked well!
