Diaper Covers - Asheville, NC

I use cloth diapers on my 4 month old son. He has reached the point to where he does not wake up anymore to be changed at night (unless it is #2). So we have been putting him in disposables only at night because the diaper covers we use (Prowraps) leak if left on for that long. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a diaper cover to usek at night. I am really hating the disposables.

What can I do next?

I know this is old, but wanted to give my recommendation for the snap-ez pockets - they work GREAT for overnights, and they have these awesome hemp/bkt inserts that are super super absorbent. i also like greenacredesigns.com pockets, but have found they don't hold up well for us at night.

I also use cloth, though my son is older. Are you using prefolds, what kid of doublers are you using at night? I use proraps and have no trouble at all with leaking, though I also have what my hubby calls my monster night diaper. I use a microfiber insert, covered with a premie prefold trifolded in his premium topped with a fleece liner to keep him dry. Then I put his prorap, it sounds like a lot though i have never had a leak.
I can completely understand hating dealing with sposies I would hate it as well. I think it's pretty much a trial and error till you figure out what works best or you. I know some like pockets and AIOs though I can't give you any advice on those cause I am hooked to my prefolds.

I would be more than happy to help out anyway I can though. Feel free to email me if you want. Always nice to talk to other CD mamas

I don't use cloth, but there are a number of other mothers that do on another message board I go on. They have all slowly switched over to disposables for night for this reason. I know that does not help, but thought I would let you know that many others have the same issue. Good luck!

L.,
We've been using just plain old plastic pants, the kind my mom used on us. They're not the prettiest things, but they do keep in the wetness very well. I just use Gerber brand, but they're all pretty much the same. Now that my son is older (14 mos) we've also moved up to double-diapering, because he was leaking even with the pants, and the extra diaper seemed to do the trick. The problem is finding the pants! Most places don't have them any more, because people don't use them. One place I've found them consistently is Kmart, and interestingly, discount places (like Big Lots and other stores with "closeout" items) are also good places to look. They can probably be found online, too. Good luck!!

We use Fuzzibunz at night at don't have a problem with leaks. Fuzzibunz have a microfleece liner which wick moisture away from his skin so he feels dry, and when you use hemp inserts, they're very absorbant. They're kind of pricey, but if you just get a few to use at night, the expense might not be too bad.

Or you could stick with the prefolds but use either a wool or fleece cover. Wool and fleece are both very absorbant. A lot of parents who cloth diaper come to really love wool covers. Fleece is a little cheaper and a little easier to care for, and almost as absorbant as wool. There are a lot of different brands of wool and fleece diaper covers to choose from, but we have used the Stacinator brand and been very happy with it. Again, they're expensive, but you could probably get away with just having one.

Try Fuzzi Bunz double stuffed. We do it with one hemp and one microfiber insert. It's been getting us through to the morning for over a year now.

the only covers that ever worked for overnight were the bumkins. we bought a size big and stuffed them with extra fat soakers. hope this helps.

I like to use all in one diapers with the velcro to make them tight....and put in a doubler or two ...so they dont leak....I found the all in ones work better at night time .... just an idea :)

I know this is an old message but I wanted to add my 2 cents:

I also use cloth on my son (he's 2.5 now and we've been using them since he was 5 months old). I have been using wool at night for the last year and a half with no problems. I use a good fitted diaper underneath with lots of absorption and a well-lanolized wool soaker on top. I knit my own but you can sew them or buy them from various online resources. I make pants out of wool yarn and that's what ds wears at night for warmth and for function (and they are darn cute, too :)

Please feel free to email me and we can talk cloth :)
