Desperately Need to Find PERFECT First Birthday Dress
I'm looking (and looking and looking and looking) for a first birthday dress. Preferably something kinda flower girl-like with tulle and poof, but I really want to have a #1 or birthday cake or something on it. I've scoured the web and even bought from the web with problems. Is there a local store who sells these kind of dresses?
So What Happened?™
Hey ladies,
I ended up looking at 2 sites that were local, because I could order the dresses and then look at them in person with no shipping charges. I originally had a bad experience with an internet site that was not local. So, kudos to gingersnapkids.com and bestdressedkids.com (another name for bright beginnings)Great clothes and you can't beat local!!

Look no more!
www.gingersnapkids.com has gorgeous, precious dresses, including ones with the cake and number.
Good luck!

*It's a local (Round Rock,) mom-owned business. :)

Check out Monogram Lady on Far West Blvd....they have dresses with a cupcake with one candle, but they may not be fancy enough for what you're looking for be/c they are more like sun dresses.
And best of all, you can have it monogram with your daughter's name on it.

I always go to Burlington Coat Factory. They have the same dresses plus more than the Dept. stores at a lot less money! I always find what I am looking for there.
Good luck!

If you are in Austin, I recommend looking at Bright Beginnings -- they might have something. Another thought is to buy a plain dress with the tulle and poof, and then do a stencil onto the dress? You can buy an iron-on stencil kit at Michael's very inexpensively. :)
Alternately, look for a really cool #1 onesie somewhere like cafe press and then buy a tutu to go over it?

I used Sophiasstyle.com for a flower girl dress. The price was half of David's Bridal for the same dress. Shipping was fast. They carry several "birthday" dresses with birthday themes. A really good brand of dress is "Rare Editions". You could also try searching for "Rare Editions Birthday Dress" on ebay. They also carry that brand at Dillards and Macys, but not sure if they would have the birthday dress. The cutest dress I've seen on ebay is a flower girl dress with tulle on the bottom and flowers inside the tulle. Just search for flower girl dresses by size. Good luck!

I would find the perfect dress and then buy a "1st Birthday" bib to protect the perfect dress. Make your baby the focal point and accessorize with "1". ie the cake, decorations, ballons, wrapping paper. That way the dress could be used again for holidays coming up.

You can always find the dresss you want and have a professional embroidy something, it's not as cheesy as it sounds... example:
