Desperate for Bread - Must Be Gluten Free

My daughter and I were recently diagnosed with celiac disease, meaning we can't eat wheat or gluten. I am seriously craving bread...a sandwich...toast etc. I have yet to find a gluten free bread that doesn't taste like sawdust or styrofoam. Can someone PLEASE help me?

What can I do next?

I can't really tell you where to find any good bread because I still haven't been able to find any but there is a baking mix I found at winco that is gluten free and I don't know if you can have barley but the Idaruski(not sure how it is spelled) but the russian store has a lot of different barley things to put into bread and cereals and things.

I'm not sure where you live, but look for "Food for Life Wheat & Gluten Free White Rice Bread" in your supermarket's specialty section. A place like Wild Oats would probably have it too. It's made in Corona CA by the Food for Life Baking Company. Hope that helps! Sorry it took me so long to see your request...

There is a wonderful bread out there called Ezekial 4:9. You can usually find it at health food stores. It is made with wheat, but it's sprouted, so there is no Gluten. There are also lots of wonderful cookbooks out there. My favorites are "THe Gluten Free Gormet". She has a whole series, one specifically for breads. This is where you get used to cooking with alternate flours like rice, tapioca, and been flours. I don't have Celiac disease, but have to avoid gluten for other reasons. I hope this helps!
