Hi, just wondering if anyone has had similar experience...Went to hospital other night for decreased fetal movement at 33 weeks, the NST was non reactive with decelerations, BPP score was 2/8, dr wanted to perform emergency c-sec. After consultation with another dr he decided to wait. They repeated BPP in 12 hrs, scored 8/8, and again 24 hrs later 8/8. I was hospitalized 4 days, fetal monitoring was fine throughout with exception of night I was admitted. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, trying to find an explanation. Now I am so worried about fetal movement its ridiculous. Think poor results were false positive (?). Would love to hear from anyone....Thanks

It sounds like everything is fine and that one score on the low side was a blip in the overall pattern. I had weekly NST's with my kids due to hypertension while pregnant, and with my second, there was one appt. where I sat on that monitor for 2 hours and the movements and accelerations in her heart rate were virtually nonexistent. I was terrified! My dr. sent me for a biophysical ultrasound right away and all was fine - I really think she was just sleeping. I am a teacher so at that time of day during my pregnancy I was always up, walking around and talking, so I think her patterns followed that and she was used to sleeping while I was busy. Try not to worry too much and just keep track of movements every hour or so, I know it's hard and you have a few weeks left. It will go by quickly, hang in there!

I had the same problem 5 years ago. The only difference w/ me is they made her pass her bio physical and sent me home and they kept you smart idea. My story ended there 2 days later. I was 37 weeks when she passed. I pray your baby makes it home with you.

Hey there! I had 3 NST's w/ my first son, and 4 ultrasounds. Why? Debate over size/due dates, then it was the fact that he'd not stopped moving, until about 36 weeks, when I noticed a sharp decrease in movements. Turned out he didn't think I had enough space for him. I'd worried though, because I frequently flipped onto my back to sleep while pregnant, which puts pressure on the uterine artery. My OB/GYN did not only a 4 hour NST, but also did an ultrasound to confirm movement. I don't think I was ever so happy to see him sucking his thumb than at the 36 week ultrasound. Sometimes the baby is going through a growth spurt & won't move, other times it's a rise in your fluid (or decrease in fluid), also if you are diabetic or not. The OB is wise to take into consideration all manners first. I am glad they kept you monitored to see what was happening. I'd encourage that for any woman - it is YOUR baby, Your body, and YOUR care that is on the line. Hopefully the more educated women are about this, the more they are able to ask for & push for their baby's & their care.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I hardly ever felt my son kick. I'd be asleep at night and snuggle up to my husband. My husband would feel someone poking him and he ended up falling out of bed. Seems my tummy was doing all the nudging and kicking while I was oblivious to it.

It happened to me at 35 weeks with my daughter. I had a 17 month old son at home at the time who was sick. I had breakfast that morning, but hadn't had lunch yet due to my afternoon appt. I too scored 2/8. They hooked me up to the NST for almost 2 hours when I got a call from my baby sitter telling me that my son kept throwing up and that I should take him to the pediatrician. I left the hospital to take care of my son promising my doctor that I would return that evening to continue further testing. Later that evening, I scored an 8/8 (thank God) and they sent me home. I continued to score 8/8 for all future biophysical profiles and had my daughter with no complications. If you have diabetes, make your appts for after your meals or make sure you snack. Sounds like you and your baby will be fine. Do your kick counts and good luck!

Hi T.,
I't's not necessarily a "false positive" - your baby will have periods of more and less activity. That was a period of decreased activity. It doesn't mean the results weren't accurate. Is your doctor or MW having you do kick counts?
