Decorations for Rehearsal Dinner

Hi Ladies-

My nephew is getting married in Corsicana and my husband and I are taking care of the rehearsal dinner. I'm trying to think of some centerpieces as we have had to book a dining hall instead of going to a restaurant. Since we will be driving, I would hate to bring flowers and have them ruin before the dinner. I was also thinking about a candle arrangement as I understand the hall has a bit of a nursing home smell to it. Does anyone have any suggestions for centerpieces?

What can I do next?

I love the floating fruit idea plus it would be 2 good scents for your table!!! (7th photo down) You could slice the fruit and keep it in a cooler until you arrive and then add the water to the vases when you arrive, too.

Mirrors under any candle centerpiece really adds to the sparkle.

Good luck.

round glass mirror with glass bowl, fill bowl with some water to put floating candle (color candle to match wedding colors or cake) also buy extra candles in case they go out; though very doubtful. You can get pearl beads to lay around glass bowl on mirrors. You can also put silk flowers or pedals around bowl on the mirror.

Got to Garden Ridge to purchase everything.

Good Luck,

D. Godfrey

At my backyard wedding, we bought potted flowering plants from Home Depot, then put covers over the pots. We got -I think - 6 inch pots. They were lovely, don't wilt and were planted in the garden afterwards. You can coordinate the pots to anything based on the cover. My mom made a sleeve for the pots but if you don't sew, use some floral paper or other beautiful paper that coordinates with your table cloths and glue it to the pots. You can also go to the 99 cent store or Dollar Tree and get some wedding accessories, attach them to the floral wire on a tick and accent the flowers with a simple decoration for a finished look. You could also place a tall taper candle in each if you are wanting to do candle. I love the idea of fresh flowers and as long as you hide the pot and dirt, no one will know or care that they aren't cut and arranged.

You could put a pretty candle in a low dish or bowl and surround the bottom with colored rocks or glass beads that coordinate with the wedding colors. It would be pretty and will easily travel.

Does the rehersal dinner have a theme? You can always buy square short vases at garden ridge or michaels and float candles in them. If you have an option of going to a grocery store and buying flowers you can get 1 orchid per vase a wind orchard down in the vase (submersed in water) and then float the cadle on top. If you are just doing the candles you can color the water with food coloring. If you need a pic of the flower idea send me your email and I will send it to you.

Hey J. -- I don't have an idea for the exact mechanics, but what about somehow using photos of the bride and groom? People LOVE to look at photos of people they care about...baby pics, childhood shots, embarassing teenage shots, and photos of the couple during their courtship. It would be something meaningful, and the guests would them! Good luck!
