Decorating a Home on a budget-I Need Some Store or Online Ideas!

I don't want to spend a lot of money on decor for our home and I love the idea of a "good deal" anyway. I'm into exchanges and recycling stuff too. Are there certain consignment, thrift shops, online sites, other types of discount stores that have great home decor and are there certain days I should go to find deals? Also, if it's Deseret Industries or Salvation Army, what particular store is better (address please)? Thanks a lot...

What can I do next?

Alyssa hit it on the nail! Freecycle is awesome! Just a bit ago I got a huge box of green and maroon eucalyptus, wired ribbon and other dried flowers and stuff to make gorgeous floral arrangements. It was actually all new too becausae the lady who offered it decieded she was too busy to try to use it, so that was a great bonus. I've also gotten decorative shelves that I refinished. You can get almost anything you're looking for. Good luck!

I found these baskets that I LOVE: http://www.hullabaloohomedecor.com/

You can find them at Roberts Arts and Crafts. I think I've seen them at Zurkers, too.

They're not that expensive....and you can change the liners for a quick, new look.

They also have a black and white line coming this spring that I'm excited for: http://www.flickr.com/photos/____@____.com/3837180286/in/....

My house is soooo much less cluttered since I got these.

www.freecycle.org fabulous website....read all the details of it in your area...I love it and have gotten a ton of stuff off of it!

Hi K.,
My favorite place for a lot of home decor is Hobby Lobby. They always have some great sales that will get you 30-50% off. Go online and check out their weekly sale ad. You will also find an online coupon for 30%+ off of a regularly priced item. I also enjoy our Goodwill store. They have an assortment of stuff plus colored tag sale days. I've also been to "Tuesday Mornings". I think you have to be careful and know your prices at stores like this but you still can get a deal if you know what you're doing. Have fun, L.

I love getting recycling ideas online. Like using the metal part of a rake to organize your necklaces. Then you can tack it to the inside of your closet door.
MSN.com has cute ideas.

I've heard of DownEast? furniture. They have slightly damaged items that look amazing and modern.

I never go to one place to get it all done. I look for ideas online, then search all over the place (e-bay, thrift, etc) to execute my dreams.

Michael's is my new favorite store. Robert's is great, too. There are lots of locations all over Utah. The best thing about these stores is that they often send out 40% or 50% off coupons. They are usually found in the Sunday ads, but sometimes I get them in the mail. It takes longer to get the house decorated, but if you buy one item at a time with those coupons the prices are fantastic. Also, shop out of season. Spring decor is on clearance at Michael's right now for 50% off (no coupon needed!). I haven't been yet (newish to Utah), but I hear the Tai Pan Trading company in West Jordan on 9000 South has TONS of stuff for great prices. I think they're a wholesale store, which means cheaper than retail. I also love freecycle and especially ksl.com classifieds. Have fun! Decorating is one of my favorite things to do:)

Hi K.,

There is a store in Parker called Cotton Kloset. It is on the southwest corner of Lincoln and Jordan road. She always has lots of home decor items. Hope this helps!
