Decorating a Doc Band?

My 6 mo old daughter just got her Doc band today for plagiocephaly. She's going to have to wear it 8-10 weeks. I need tips on how to decorate it from those who've done it before. I've heard acrylic/non-toxic paint & to seal it w/ ModPodge? I've also heard pretty gift wrap or tissue paper could work, but I'm not that crafty so I need something fool-proof! Any ideas?

What can I do next?

My son wore his for 9 weeks and I just bought stickers at Hobby Lobby. I did not seal them with anything, and just changed them out every 2 weeks or so. It was fun to have the different themes. Also, Speed Pro Imaging in Fort Worth creates custom graphics for them if you are interested in something professional. Good Luck, and from my experience after the first few days he didn't even notice the band anymore :)

I saw this cool calendar that has some great ideas. I guess you could use stickers or get stencils and use acrylic paint. ModPodge is so easy its just like glue that you use a paint brush with, even I can do it and I am so NOT crafty. If all else fails maybe you can pay someone $5 or $10 to pretty it up!
check out the calendar at www.cranialtech.com and find the link to their calendar. Way cool ideas!

My boys had those. We planned on decorating them, but never really got around to it so they stayed white. It goes fast and the results are amazing. Good luck.

Hi K.! My son had a doc band for three months earlier this year, we were very happy with the results! I'm a busy working mom and knew I couldn't free hand paint it, so... I went to Hobby Lobby/Michaels (can't remember which, but either one is fine) and just bought some really cool stickers. I got one package of cute little quotes and one of "boy" stuff like footballs and such. Then I also bought a bottle of the mod podge. It was SO easy and I got tons of compliments on it! (wish there was a way to send you a pic?) I just put the stickers on the doc band and then painted the mod podge over them. I let it dry overnight, and that was it.

Depending on how mobile your daughter is, and how long she wears it, you might have to replace some stickers if they start to peel. In that case, just take rubbing alcohol and rub over the sticker you want to remove. Replace with new sticker and re apply mod podge in that area. You can also redo the entire helmet if you want a new look. Just a little alcohol takes the mod podge and stickers right off.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
