thanks for all the suggestions! i had no idea! woo hoo!

Hey Ladies,

I love Earl Grey tea, but its caffeinated and I am trying to avoid that. I also like to drink several cups of tea per day (breakfast, afternoon and sometimes after dinner)

I was wondering if anyone knows of a black tea that is not caffeinated. To be more specific - a black tea that can be used as a traditional English tea (Cream & Sugar added). Herbal tea is great but thats not what I'm looking for. I'd like my 3-4 cups a day back, its so relaxing! But I'd like to avoid all the caffeine.

I don't mind ordering online or anything. Just wondering if it exists.

What can I do next?

Yum, rooibos tea with milk and honey is DELICIOUS and caffeine free! Try it out. A different taste than earl grey, but still yummy. :)

I'm way more exited about your post than I should be- but I'm exactly the same way! I love black tea but can't handle the caffeine. Usually people assume that means that I want herbal stuff. I don't mind it sometimes, but I like black tea!

Anyway, I have bought decaf of just about all my faves. Bigelow brand makes decaf earl grey, they also have a great one called 'constant comment' and it is available decaf, too.

The Republic of Tea is my all time favorite brand. They make either a decaf earl grey or decaf english breakfast (maybe both, can't remember). They also have decaf apricot (black tea) and decaf ginger peach (black). The are pricier brands, but are amazing.

Have fun looking for new teas!

I drank Constant Comment decaf tea when I was pregnant and nursing. I'm not sure if the Bigelow brand of Earl Grey comes in decaf or not, but you could probably check the store or their website. I liked the Constant Comment by Bigelow and it is a black tea.

Enjoy!

I have a similar situation to yours in that I am really sensitive to caffeine and can't even have decaf because even decaf has caffeine. I have been drinking African red teas and have it with honey and cream. It's more robust than herbal tea but it contains no caffeine. I drink Celestial Seasoning and Republic of Tea. Celestial Seasonings also makes a Roast Aroma which has no caffeine and has a robust flavor. Another option is White Tea which has the least caffeine of all the caffeinated teas. In you want decaf teas, order online from Peets Coffee and Tea. They are here in California and they ship. Excellent tea.

I love hot tea and I too drink it throughout the day. I try to avoid caffeine after lunch time. This is my all time favorite tea shop, http://www.theteatable.com/. They give you up to 5 free samples with each order so I have tried a lot of thier teas. My favorite in Decaf Chocolate Mint black tea, I use it as a replacement for dessert with a little honey, yum. They have various versions of decaf Earl Grey as well.

I second the African bush teas. They are hearty enough for milk and sugar as are the rooibos.

Amy,

We have many flavors in decaf that you can order directly from our website, www.bigelowtea.com.

Also if you can't find what you want in decaf, check out our latest video on how to naturally decaf your tea featuring Cindi Bigelow, President of B.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBG9X7c28j0

Good luck with your tea search!

There are several brands of decaffeinated black tea in most grocery stores -- Early Grey, Assam, etc. Now that you're looking for it, I'm sure you'll see it. I drink my tea the same way -- cream and sugar. However, if you are open to trying new things, all of the other suggestions given by other moms are yummy, too (of course, they will never replace the traditional tea, but you might find that you appreciate them, too, and crave different teas depending on your mood!).
