I was going to say the same thing. I don't get the 2 day thing. My D&C was in and out and I had very little pain, but I took the next two days off of work just to rest up and relax. Good luck!

My friend had a two day procedure but I think it was called a D & E. Her baby died at 19 weeks in utero. The first part was the dialation and they inserted some kind of a ring. The second part was the next day and they removed the baby. She was uncomfortable to they upped her meds and was fine.

Good luck, please let us know how it all turned out.

Never heard of a 2 day procedure. I would ask the doc for clarification of this! Mine was outpatient with IV sedation (so you think you're out but you're not really). Woke up in recovery, didn't feel a thing and made dinner that night. Good luck...but do find out why 2 days?

I read online that a 2day D&C can be needed if your pregancy loss was past 14 weeks... http://www.pregnancyloss.info/descriptions_of_procedures.htm
I was curious, too, why it would take 2 days. It sounds like the procedure they do is all of the same steps as an outpatient procedure, but maybe they keep you overnight to dilate you more for a more advanced pregnancy loss. I had a miscarriage last year at 14 weeks, but was able to have the outpatient procedure. I had a lot of hard cramping right after I woke up from anesthesia, but otherwise, was feeling good by evening with no pain & not much bleeding, even ready to do some yoga to capitalize on the muscle relaxers that were still wearing off! The hard part was getting over the pregnancy loss. I still waiting to get over that part. Sorry to hear you're in this very common, but very sad situation.
I'm happy to report, we're pregnant again, and I'm 33 weeks along now. I hope you too have a speedy recovery.

I had the same as Megan C. Just in and out. Why are they doing it over 2 days?

same here - mine (for a "missed miscarriage") was outpatient, not 2 days. felt nothing (thanks to general anesthesia) at the time, but was pretty bloated and sore for 4-5 days after.

Two days? Hmm. Mine was outpatient. Its a regular, surgical proceedure. They put you under, do the proceedure and then you wake up. I didn't feel anything.

Don't worry! It's one of the most common procedures that ob/gyns do. The risks are low. Usually you will be able to go home the next day, or even the same day. They will give you medicine for the cramps you might feel afterwards. You will also have some bleeding which will probably go away within a couple of days. Don't worry :)
