My husband is considering switching to a day shift at which point we will need to find full-time child care for my 18 month old. Since we've been married (three years), he's worked nights and I've worked days. While it has been great to have him home with our daughter, I would like to have some more family time together, since we now only see eachother two days a week. However, cost is going to be a factor in this decision. Just wondering how much you all were paying for full-time daycare in the Southwest suburbs. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Wepay $200/week in Southwest Minneapolis. To check out prices in various suburbs, go to moredaycare.com . You have to pay $10 for a two-week membership to the site, but it's completely worth it. I used tge site for my daycare search and it saved me a lot of time and hassle.
Good luck!

Hi! We pay $440 a week for our 8 month old and our 3 year old. I think the infant is 260 and the toddler (pre-school they call it) is 180. That includes a second child discount, though. They go to an awesome daycare center and, although it is by far our biggest expense, it is worth it. Take your time making this huge decision and good luck!

I am a mother of 2 and unfortunately we do not live in south metro, but north Minneapolis. My girls have been at a private home daycare and I pay $145 for my 22 month old daughter and $125 for my 5 year old daughter. When we had daycare in south Minneapolis, we were paying about the same price. There is a resource that I contacted to get a listing of daycare. I am unsure if it is only for Hennepin County, but it is worth trying. The number is ###-###-####. You provide some information about yourself, and then they will send you a listing of daycare centers and home daycare by zip codes, hours, and providers information. I have used this resource 3 times now and it is very helpful. Good luck.

I have a 2 month old and daycare for her is 175/wk in Apple Valley. It's at a in home daycare. Pricing is all over the board, just do as many interviews as possible and you'll find someone that you can trust. I looked in the phone book, the newspaper for daycares and just called around. When you meet them always do a surprise visit later with all the children just seeing how they run things. The centers are very spendy. It's what you like. Good luck in finding one.

The rates for an 18-month old are probably going to be a little cheaper than an infant, but we are paying $200/week for our 7-month old at an in-home daycare. This was at the high end of home daycare pricing I found, but we found a terrific lady who takes infants and toddlers only and it very close to home. Many of the others were in the $150-180 range - this price sometimes includes things like formula & diapers, but sometimes didn't. We found the big centers were charging between $300-350/week. Hope this helps!

We pay $150 in Shakopee for full-time care of our two year old. He just turned 2. He was 18 months when he started there. It is an in-home day care.
