Daughter Wants to Learn How to Play Golf

My 14 year old daughter has just inherited a nice set of clubs from her grandmother and is now very interested in learning the sport. I'm not a golfer and have no idea where to start. Anyone have any advice on getting her started?

What can I do next?

I would recommend contacting countryside country club, yes they are a private club, however they have a great teacher who does lessons to non members. The pro's name is Justina Hopkins, she is wonderful and great with kids.
###-###-#### is the club's phone number.....if she's serious they offer great membership programs too....no I don't work there, use to, so I am not trying to sell you

Dear M.,
I do not golf but I would start at the golf course in Palm Harbor and speak with the professional golfer that is most likely on staff. I am also sure that there is a golf camp in Pinellas County this summer. My grandfather loves the game. He has loved golf for over 50 years.

Do everything you can to encourage her, it will mean alot to her for your support.

Check out your local golf course/country club. They usually have professionals available for private lessons. Does her school have a golf team? Some schools do. Good luck!

Most courses/ranges offer at least 1 & sometimes 2 Saturday a.m. clinics (in N. Pinellas: Chi Chi $15, Countryside $10, and the place on Racetrack Rd. $20).

Ask at the school in which she is going. That would be where I would start. A lot of the schools have golf teams. Also some of the Church's have golf teams. If you have money you can hire a private teacher. Also some of the Senior Parks have residents that love to take on a student. And they don't charge a dime. They do it out of love for the sport and company of a young person as they say. Hope this helps.

I see you are in New Port Richey. Magnolia Valley has a pro and also Fox Hollow has a pro that gives lessons on Saturday.
