Daughter W/ Red Spot on Her Face

Try the baby eczema cream from baby orajel. You can find it at Target or Walgreens. It is awesome, and natural. Both my son and I have exzema, and it works wonders for us both. A little goes a long way, and it's like ^ bucks for the tube. Hope that helps.

My daughter had red spots on her face that later turned into eczema.
She was sensitive to lanolin, so we couldn't use aquafor. She is also allergic to MANY things, but we didn't know that when she was 6 mos. I would be suspicious of food allergies, esp. since it goes away in the night.
If you're concerned, I would be happy to share what's happened with us. We've had a rough road, but are now on the other side, and so encouraged!

This sounds very similar to what my daughter had. It would drive me crazy because the Dr's kept recommending Aquaphor and it never really went away. The rest of her skin is beautiful- no dry patches of any kind. Finally one of the Dr's at my pediatricians office recommended using Hydrocortisone cream ( I used Aveeno cream) 2 x's a day and within a couple of days it was gone and has never come back. i used it very sparingly, at night after her bath and then in the morning before she went to the sitter. She is now 13 months old and that was about 5-6 months ago.

My daughter also has a reg spot... in the middle of her chest. She was born with it. It's commonly referred to as strawberry birthmark. But basically, it is raised blood vessels. The pediatrician has been keeping an eye out on it just to make sure it hasn't changed... but we were told it was going to get darker (which it has) before it starts to fade... not for a couple of years. I have talked to others who had it as a young child and theirs did go away. But when they get tan, that spot will be a little darker than the rest. I would ask your pediatrician about it.

Band aid's are choking hazards so you are right not to put one on her face. Have you checked with the doctor about the spots? It doesn't sound like eczema because it would be itchy and dry and would possibly spread. My daughter had very red eye lids when she was born and now she's two and the red is completely gone. Red spots usually will disappear with time without any sort of treatment but you should always check with the doctor to be sure and ease your mind.

Sounds like eczema to me. My boys have different versions of eczema, apparently. The one gets clusters like the ones you describe and the other gets the dry, itchy skin over a large area.

I don't have a solution - our pediatrician gave us a prescription ointment, but I don't know if it is safe for a baby. But I'm posting because I just learned from a friend last night that she switched her son from cow's milk to soy milk and that cured his eczema, which apparently is caused by a milk sensitivity for him. (I know eczema has many causes, but I guess it worked for her kid.) I had never heard that before, but thought I'd throw it out there if you happen to be using formula, you could try a soy version and see if it makes any difference?

I think what you may be describing is the same as my daughter and son have. But, for the life of me I cannot remember what my doctor called it. My daughter had a little red spot on her cheek that appeared before she was one. She is almost five now and she has one more on her cheek now, too. My son is 3 and he got one below his eye about 6 months ago. The kind of look like a star- but really just made up of little red dots. My doctor initially gave me some cream to put on the first spot of my daughter's- but it didn't help. My doctor told us that they are just cosmetic- and most likely will fade or go away alltogether. She said if they don't in a couple of years that she would have us to to a dermatologist. They really are no big deal right now so I haven't forced the issue to have them go now- but I am sure I could if I wanted.

Not sure if this helps, but my sun has a couple small red spots that are clusterlike on his face/head. They are not raised and don't go away. He has had them since birth, but have diminished slowly. They are just birth marks that my MD said should go away by 1yr. You said that your daughters disappeared, so not sure if this holds true for you...just thought I would mention it as a possiblity.
