We are looking to put our daughter, almost 4, in a dance class. A friend at church told me about Studio One Dance Center in north Fort Worth (Keller ISD). They are a Christian dance studio. I've contacted them and the owner seems very nice...also prompt in answering my questions. Does anyone else inthe Keller, NRH, Haltom, Watuaga area take their child to this dance studio? What is your opinion???
Thanks!

So What Happened?

My daughter started the 4-5 year old class last week at Studio One Dance Center and loved it and loved Jennifer, the owner/instructor. She is excited to go again. I would recommend this dance!!! Have a blessed day!!!

A Christian center sounds great! I take my 3 year old son to the North Richland Hills Rec Center for soccer and it has a program which is quite affordable and they have 1 main instructor (a very nice lady) w/2 dance helpers. The kids seem very engaged...This might be a good "starter" place. Hope this helps. We live in FTW in the Park Glen area.

My suggestion would be to look at yellow pages online and to call dance studios one by one with a list of what you are looking for. Hoonestly, it depends also on how serious you want your daughter to be with dancing. A christian dance studio seems like the perfect place to get your daughter started, but as far as really creating dance technique for your daughter you need to call around. I cannot tell you how many dance studios there are, that have instructors who do not have college educations in the fine arts, and do not give your children the tools to become the best dancer they can be. Lets not forget too, that with the money you spend on dance class, it needs to be worth it. So really look through as many dance studios as you can.I used to teach ballet, jazz and hip hop in San Antonio, Texas and the teachers dedication and education in dance is key. Good luck!

Dear D.,

After being a dance mom for seven years I think I can offer up some advice! I think I know which dance school you are talking about and they are good. We would go there but it is a bit too far. You definetely want to do a Christian dance school because almost all the regular dance schools in Ft. Worth have very, very inappropriate costumes and dance moves.

We go to Dance Expressions in River Oaks and it is wonderful. They are a great Christian dance school and they openly accept my special needs child there too.

My advice - before you sign up with a dance school - watch their recital!! It will tell you all you need to know! We moved here and went on someone's recommendation and we were shocked at the recital! Our daughter's class wasn't too bad - but the older girls had fish net stockings and looked like hookers and danced to awful hip hop music! Be careful!!!!

StudioOne Dance Center just opened last August, and my daughter started taking dance when it opened. Jennifer, the owner/instructor, is wonderful. You can tell she loves what she does and loves the kids as well. She is patient and kind with them always. We love, love, love the studio. My daughter will be four in May, so she is in the 3 year old class on Saturdays and absolutely loves the class. Feel free to contact me if you'd like more details. I couldn't say enough positive things about the studio. We also love the fact that it is a Christian dance studio... we don't have the concerns about appropriateness of moves/costumes as our daughter gets older. Also, Jennifer majored in dance in college, and we're confident she is very skilled.

My 7 yr old daughter started there this past January after a couple of bad years at a studio in Lewisville.

We LOVE it there!! My daughter is so much hapier going there, always comes out smiling. Jennifer is the best!! I am so glad that we found this studio.

Like you, Jennifer called me back right away and spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone with me going over all my concerns and questions. She truely enjoys what she does and has a real heart for the kids. Just a couple of weeks ago, she opened the studio on a Friday night for a valentine's party for the kids.

Feel free to contact me if you need anymore info. but don't think you could go wrong with this studio.
