Coming to visit DFW and looking for great family areas, schools, awesome subdivisions, safe and wonderful places to live and raise my family. I have 2 under 9.
Looking at all the school ratings, and houses, its overwhelming, so I am hoping to narrow it down before I visit with my realtor. I have look into, Grapevine, Keller, flower Mound, Mansfield, Allen, Ronoak and Frisco. I was wondering if there are any other hidden gems I am missing, or the 411 on these areas. Thanks so much!
P.s. Does matter where we live, my husband travels for work.

What can I do next?

I've lived in Mansfield for 16 years, and I teach in Arlington. My oldest is a senior and my youngest is in the 6th grade, both in Mansfield schools. We've been pleased with the education they are receiving. Mansfield is growing very quickly, but it's still family friendly and has a bit of a small town feel to it. I have a close friend who teaches in Colleyville. That's a great district/community, too.

I'd consider Colleyville too.

I answered this same question you posted in mid January.

I'm in Plano ISD and loved it. My daughter is in college now. I'm a 15 year substitute teacher in Plano.

Much deoends on your budget as well.

We lived in Allen for 4 years and loved it. That being said, if you go just a little north to McKinney, you can get the same awesome subdivisions, schools, etc for a lot less. Allen has everything you need as far as shopping, activities, etc. and is 5-10 minutes from McKinney. We maybe going back and the first place we are looking is McKinney. We're looking at the Craigs Ranch subdivision and surrounding subdivisions.nn

Flower Mound is an amazing small town even though it's right there. We have a couple of family and friend families that live there. They've been a "town" for a very very long time but not recognized as one until a few years ago. They've had their own city officers and police force and school administration and all.

I wouldn't hesitate to move there. It's a lot of newer housing since it's exploded in the past 20 or less years. I've even went as far as looked at houses for sale with the intent of going on vacation to check them out. But then we turn around and decide to stay in Oklahoma. Housing has been similar or slightly lower in Flower Mound too. Nice large homes too.
