Daiper Rash

My daughter just turned one and not soon after her birthday she got thrush. So we took her to the Dr. he prescribed her NYSTATIN. Today I just noticed she had a really horrible rash on her bottom; its not red but it has small bumps; then her next diaper change I saw it was on her vagina (red, with the small bumps). I notice that it doesnt really bother her until i wipe her with one of the wipes then she'll start screaming at the top of her lungs.I read up on what it could be and I noticed alot of parents were talking about yeast and it could be yeast, but im not sure her Dr. office isnt open on the weekends and I would hate to make m baby go to the ER for something simple as a bad diaper rash but I also so know that certain things you just dont take lightly.

What can I do next?

I know its hard to see your little one in pain. Do half and half of 1% hydrocortisone cream and vasoline---make a paste and apply it 6x a day for the next 2 days. If it doesn't get remarkably better, call the doctor again. If you really feel its yeast, you can get over the counter monistat and put it on the outside area of her privates--nothing inside.

IF you are still nursing, breastmilk does wonders for healing many things---I use that whenever my little one has any issues. Hope this helps! good luck.

Kingsford Corn Starch! Just clean and dry your baby's bottom and smooth the corn startch on. It will clear it up and it is not expensive.

It all depends on what they gave her....topical or oral meds. Call your pediatrician, is he not on call? His service can get to him and ask. It could be the meds. It could be the thrush working itself through her system. Thrush is very contageous. Her poop, saliva, urine will all have it so whatever they come in contact with will be contaminated, such as her tush and vaginal area. Call her pediatricians service and ask.

Hey! If it's a yeast infection, they will likely tell you to get some lotramin cream from the drugstore (or target, or whatever). Sounds weird, but it's in the foot care aisle. We went through the same thing with my now 2 yr old, twice. If you use it, wipe the bottom with a wet paper towel or washclothe as some wipes have alcohol and other stuff on them that can react with the lotrimin. Our pediatrician told us to keep putting diaper creme over the lotrimin cream. I would still get her checked out, but this is what we have been told to do with a yeast infection.

I went thru a horrible diaper rash with my 18month old daughter just a few weeks ago. i tried several different things. The one that finally worked was Dr. Bordoux's (spelling) butt cream and the baby powder specialy for diaper rash. It cleared up with in the first day. I put it on thick the first time and less everytime after. I feel your pain, knowing she's hurting and not knowing how to make it better.

Butt Paste is the brand and the best. NEVER EVER use baby wipes on a rash, or when you suspect a rash coming on.
