I am just looking to hear what all you other moms think about Cymbalta, if you have tried it? I think I need for anti-irritant (not depression, just irritable lol), but it makes me tried & I don't wanna continue using it. I got put on it to see if it would my headaches, but of course it did not. If I skip a dose though... I am so irritated by everything & I think the worse things. I know if you abruptly quit taking drugs like that they can have those affects on you, but I just wanted to see what other moms thought. Thanks for any responses!

What can I do next?

M., I too take Cymbalta, and the side effects for me are also drowsiness and (ugh - constipation)....so - I have found it most effective to take it right before bedtime. I know that this is safe, because my doctor knows that is what I do. Check with your own doctor, however, if you are on other medications. For example, I take Cymbalta, birth control and a bladder control medicine at bedtime, but take my thyroid medication all be itself in the a.m. Children do such wonderful things to our body, don't they? haha! In all seriousness, my throid medication has to be taken alone to work properly, and chances are, if you have other medicines, they have certain specifications too. Oh, by the way - I completely get the irritable part - after being on it for a year, I needed an adjustment because I felt totally irritable, out of focus, and anxious all the time. Turns out, it was from the medication not being at the right dosage for me. It was upped, and now I am back to my "old self". I really hope this helps you, and wish you good luck!

Hi M.,
My name is J., and I did take cymbalta for about 5 months for fibromyalgia. It was prescribed to help with fibro pain, which they say is caused by depression. It didn't help the pain at all. I actually didn't have any of the side effects you are describing. I don't remember how my doc weaned me off of it, but I definately agree with the others, don't just stop taking it abruptly, have your doctor help you get off of it if you decide to stop taking it.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I hope you feel better soon.
J.

It had the opposite effect on me. I couldn't sleep.
Call your dr.they may want to wean you down depending on your dosage or length of time you've been on it. I was weaned down quickly and did have a depressed state afterward for a few weeks that I never had with coming of any other drug.

My sister had terrible side effects when she stopped taking it. she described it as having a "quick zapping inside her head". she said it was horrible. Just check with your dr. You need to wean yourself from this medication and don't just stop taking it. Good luck.

just be careful if you want to stop and talk to your doctor about how to wean yourself off the meds safely. DON'T just quit all of a sudden, it can cause all sorts of problems!!
