Cycle Increasing by a Day Each Month..29 Day Cycle to Now 35??
My boyfriend and I aren't using any type of BC...not planning, not preventing. Every month.. my period is late, and every month, it gets later by a day. It started with only one day late, and now 4 months later its 6 days late. (the month before being 5 days, before that 4...) I have taken a pregnancy test and it's negative. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm going to the obgyn tomorrow, just curious what other mamas have to say. Thanks!
** My cycle started off being 28-29 days.. Then went to 30, 31, 32... growing a day longer each cycle..**
Also just to add, this is very abnormal for me. I have gotten my period since 11 years, every 29 days like clockwork. I finally got my period time AM, almost a week late?? I was supposed to go to the OBGYN today, but they canceled because of the LOVELY snow. I will keep all mamas informed when i can.
One mom said something about a thyroid, which makes me concerned because I am also having a very hard time losing weight. I have gained almost 30 lbs since my son was born 19 months ago.. maybe Under active thyroid? Will see what the doc says..
I have also been in several times this month for abnormal paps, and have had a Colposcopy done to see what's up. I'll find out as soon as i get this appt. rescheduled. Maybe that also has something to do with it? Thanks again.

Hormonal changes can account for a lot of things, but I would have a full battery of blood tests so that you have all of the info at the same time. Yes, an underactive thyroid can cause fertility and weight problems, and can be detected through a TSH test. Blood work to check your estrogen and progesterone at different times in your cycle is a good idea. This could cause problems with the timing of your cycle but also with fertility. Get checked out so you don't make yourself crazy. The abnormal pap should be rechecked too - make sure your doctor is vigilant.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

My cycle did the opposite - started coming earlier and earlier. I was down to maybe a twenty-three day cycle with spotting in between. One doctor told me this was normal. A different doctor did a TSH test and I had hypothyroidism. It doesn't hurt to pursue it, because there could be some underlying cause.

Hi J.,
the same thing happened to me when i came off birth control pills. It turned out I wasn't ovulating consistently due to some hormone deficiency. They found it through blood tests. I took Clomid to force ovulation when I wanted to get pregnant and have 3 beautiful children. I still have very irregular periods, only every 3 or 4 months which is ok since my husband had a vasectomy and i am not worried all the time that i am pregnnt!

Actually, this started happening to me, but by a day or two more than a day. I finally had spotting half way through (at ovulation) and went in to see OB-GYN. They think I have a uterine polyp. I go in for a hysteroscopy to see what's going on this Thursday. My best advice--you're doing the right thing not ignoring what might seem to some as a minor symptom! I am hoping for you that your dr. says "its nothing." Better a dr. says it than anyone else!

Hi Be lucky it is only 1 day late every month. Mine is a week late every month. Like the month of February I didn't have it at all. So here it is the beginning of March and I am still waiting. I have changed my eating and I am working out more. So I figured that is why it has changed. But other then that I dunno. Ask the doctor. But When I asked they wanted to put my on BC pills and I didn't want to. So I guess I will have to deal with it coming whenever it feels like it. Good luck.

The length of your cycle probably just changed. I can't tell if your latest period is six days late as in your whole cycle is six days longer than the cycle before it, or six days late as measured from that first period. If it is the latter, your cycle is probably just 29 or 30 days rather than 28. If it's the former, I'm not sure. Good luck!

I am in the same situation only mine are coming sooner and sooner. I think that after coming off of BC we are still adjusting to our normal schedule. I know this takes months. A normal cycle can take up to 35 days (if I remember the number correctly). I wouldn't worry unless you are having a lot of pain.

Mine comes when it feels like coming even w/ bc not really anything to be overly concerned with.
