Curious About Burping Baby

My little guy is 8 months and doesn't seem to be bothered if we don't pat him down for a burp after eating. No fussing, no crying. But occasionally, he'll have a little spit-up after he wakes up and we hold him upright. I'm still changing shirts more often than I'd like. (How does he manage to drop the bomb on ME and not himself?)

Anyway, just wondering when you gave up the burping?

What can I do next?

When ever your little guy shows that he can burp himself. Could even be when he comes off the bottle. Some kids need to be burped longer.

Little about me:
30 yr old SAHM of 4; 3 beautiful daughters ages 6y,4y,4mo and 1 handsome son turns 2 today!!

I know with my boys (who were pukers) they stopped getting burped I think around a year, give or take a month. But my kids were and are extremely hard to burp children. My daughter who is 9 months no longer needs burped and I don't think I've burped her for a month or so now. It really just depends on the baby. Like Anita said, when they are capable of doing it themselves and sometimes that means no more bottles because they consume a lot of air with a bottle. Hope that helps!!

Hi J.,

I don't really burp my son either anymore, he's 8 plus months. He also still has the occassional spit up but the Pedi said they do this because their digestive system is still matturing, nothing to do with the burping.

As your little guy is moving more, rolling over, sitting up, the need for assistance to burp will be far less, his movement will be enough to release the burp.
