My daughter is 15 months and her teeth are just growing in.. the three at the bottom seem to be a little buck and the third tooth crooked! Four has came in at the top but seem to be chipped or something crooked as well... Will they straighten up as they continue to grow or is it something not to worry about because later on they will fall out and be replaced?

What can I do next?

I would take her to a pediatric dentist for an evaluation. It could be nothing or there could be an underlying issue that needs to be addressed.

Good luck!

I know everyone is saying pediatric dentist, but my advice is to wait and see if they straighten out as the other teeth come in. And like you said, they are going to fall out anyway so I don't see any reason to put a bunch of money into the baby teeth. I don't know that there's anything they can do with baby teeth that will help the adult teeth. I took my GD for an ortho consult and they can't even give me an idea of what they may need to do until her two eye teeth come in so I don't see how they can say anything about adult teeth by looking at the baby teeth.

Maybe just call a pedi dentist and see but I bet they say come on in because they will, of course, want the business.

I agree to take her to a pediatric dentist. It's really important to pay attention and know what's what with a baby's teeth. Knowing if there's a problem with the enamel will really help you.

Good luck!

a couple thoughts here:

this is normal for many babies. Have your pediatrican check her out. No need for a pediatric dentist at this time.

does she still use the bottle? At what age did she give it up? AND was she allowed to fall asleep with a bottle in her mouth? Your dr will want the answers to these questions.

does she still use a pacifier? At what age did she give it up? Again, the dr will want to know.

Now for the rest of the story: using both bottles & pacifiers can cant the teeth into a "bucked" position. The pacifier is particularly an issue for causing this. Discontinuing the pacifier will stop this process, & the teeth should straighten up in about 6 months or so.

& all of my comments come from 7+ years of working in the dental field. :)

I would see the pediatric dentist not because I believe 15 mo. olds need braces, but because it may be something you need to watch and/or do something for (brushing, prescription paste, special flossing). It may be absolutely nothing...or it might be something to consider. She's more than a year old and has teeth. She should have a first visit to the dentist anyway.

My DD has my poor enamel. She had a precavity when she was 10 months old and we got it taken care of and she's fine now. If you are concerned, get her in. Her teeth might be sharp, but if there are chips, that might actually be a different problem.

mine have been going to the dentist since a year old, they go every six months. Im sure it will be fine, they are baby teeth, but your dentist will be able to tell you for sure. its probably a wait and see once her permanent teeth come in

I'd have a dentist look at them, she might be lacking in a certain vitamin or mineral if the teeth look funny and misshapen.
They will however look a little funny when the first cut through but often times they straighten out on their own.

She's old enough to go to the pediatric dentist. We started taking the grand kids at age 1. My youngest grandson is just 22 months old and has been twice already.

You should call your insurance to see what pediatric dentists are covered.

Our insurance is a state plan since we have guardianship of the grand kids. The 8 year old fell at her moms and chipped a front tooth. We took her to Ocean Dental but they would not touch it. The doc gave us a list of pediatric dentists covered by Sooner Care. They are children's dentist so I was pretty confused.

A pediatric dentist is a dentist that only does baby teeth and younger kids. They will usually put the kids to sleep to do any dental work in an out patient type setting.

I love ours and won't take the kids to anyone else until he says they are way too old....

They can do some X-rays and see what is under them.

Yes they will eventually fall out bit in the meantime, she needs to be seen by a pediatric dentist so she can be monitored.

Good luck
