Lately Ive been putting boneless skinless chicken in the crock pot w/ 2 cans cream of Mushroom and some chicken broth. the chicken basicly falls appart into the soup and eventually makes kind of a gravy. I bake some biscuits (Bisquick Complete - just add water ~ but I use milk) and serve the chicken and gravey over biscuits with a vegi.

My husband loves my cornbeef. I buy the package of cornbeef w/ its spice packet and cook it in the crock pot w/ a couple cans of guinness (alcohol cooks away) and after a day of cooking its soft and juicy.

This is a pretty easy recipe for chicken and dumplings:

desired amount of chicken (most people use legs and pull it off the bone- I use some thawed out frozen boneless/skinless breasts)
one bag of frozen vegetable and/or fresh baby carrots
Bisquick baking mix
milk
one can chicken broth
salt and pepper

1) Boil your chicken in a large pot until cooked and tender.
2) Remove your chicken from the pot, but do not dump the water.
3) Cut your chicken into pieces and place in your crockpot.
4) Put your can of chicken broth and HALF of the broth that was made when you boiled your chicken into the crockpot. Dispose of the remaining broth from your boiling pot.
5) Add your frozen vegetables or baby carrots.
6) Follow the directions on the Bisquick package to make dumplings with the mix and the milk.
7) Add the dumplings by spoonfulls into the crockpot. Cooking the dumplings the entire time you cook your meal will make the broth creamy.
8) Salt and pepper to taste.
9) Cook on high for four hours, or low for six to eight hours.

BBQ Meatballs appetizer...

So easy. My friends and family love it!

Frozen meatballs (sams has the best ones, huge bag is only 10.99)
1 large jar grape jelly
1 to 2 jar(s) chili sauce (it will be by the ketchup)

Put as many frozen meatballs as you want in the crockpot and equal parts grape jelly and chili sauce in and let it cook on high for about 3 hrs. Low about 4-5 hrs.

Swedish Meatballs:

Frozen Meatballs
Cream of mushroom soup (probably 2 cans)
Worshtershire Sauce (about 3/4 cup or to taste, You can always add before serving)
Black Pepper (to taste)
Milk (about 2 cups, enough to thin soup mix)
Sour Cream or Cream Cheese or Both (1/2 small tub of sour cream or 1/2 of the 8oz block)

Put in the desired amount of meatballs (the aboove recipe is for 4-6 people) and the rest of the stuff stir it up and cook on low all day!

Some things that i love and have cooked in it are Roast, Chicken and Rice, Barbeque (for sandwiches or to put over rice), spagetti, little smokies of course, hamburger and velveeta dip (yummm), whole chickens/turkey's...there are so many things. If you want to know exactly what i do with a certain one of those meals just email me! HAVE FUN!!!

Hi B.! There are all kinds of things you can do in a crockpot. My favorite is a roast. I put the meat in first thing in the morning with seasonings, onions and garlic, and then around lunch time, i add the vegetables. By dinner time, the whole house smells yummy and dinner is ready.

And if you don't want to do the roast with the veggies, then you can just do the roast and let it cook all day. At the end of the day, you can remove the roast from the crockpot and add bar-b-que sauce for pulled pork bar-b-que sandwiches.

The other family favorite for us is our version of baked potatoes. We take whole, well washed potatoes (skin and all) and put them in the crockpot with salt and water - before leaving home for the day. When dinner time comes, you have perfectly cooked *baked* potatoes. With a package of hormel cubed ham, cheese, chives and sour cream, it makes a terrific meal.

Hope these ideas help.

Hi B., I use to be on a crock pot message board but it got too much.it was on yahoo if you get board at work and want to find it. (I use to have a county job before I had my baby girl) But one I like is to take chicken brest and put salsa on top and let it cook while your at work. Then shread the meat and use it for taco salad or tacos or even on a sandwich. Its really good and easy. 8 hours on low is fine.

I'm all about the crock pot too!

I get a lot of my recipes from a book entitled:
Fit-It and Forget-It Recipes for Entertaining; slow cooker favorites for all the year round, by Phyllis Pellman Good and Dawn J Ranck.

It has 259 pages of recipes for all meals (main dishes - chicken, beef, pork, turkey - soups, vegetables, sweets, appetizers, snacks, spreads, beverages, and breakfast dishes.

I know you can get it at Sams and Bed Bath an Beyond for a reasonable price
