Creative Ways to Tell Dad and Family Members That We Are Expecting #2 - McKinney,TX
Hello Moms. My husband and I are trying for a second child and I would like some suggestions or ideas for how to tell my husband and other family members that we are expecting. I would prefer not to do the "I'm a Big Sister" t-shirt. I really want this to not be about my daughter and be more about the new baby. That might sound crazy, but I just wanted something more unique. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

I saw this on another site and thought it was hilarious! Have everyone you want to tell over for dinner and serve baby vegetables with some kind of baby meatloafs (maybe cooked in cupcake pans?) serve it on baby plates with the 3 different sections. Make a centerpiece out of babys breath. See who gets the clue first. HA HA HA i think that sounds great! I have a recipe for little ham loaves too if you want to borrow it. :) Good luck!

My favorite "pregnancy announcement" idea of all time is this:
Assemble as many friends and family members together as possible for a photo. YOU hold the camera and as you say, "Smile..." add "We're pregnant!" or "We're going to have another baby!" or whatever you like. Then take several pictures & capture the expressions and excitement forever!

If you're not totally against any t-shirt ideas, there is a company called Muze Clothing that carries hilarious & unique pregnancy shirts. I wish I had know of them when I was preggars. Go to muzeclothing.com and click on the maternity tab & check out the selection. I think it would be so cute to walk into a dinner party wearing the tee that reads "Say Hello To My Little Friend..." and it has an arrow pointing to your belly. At first, everyone would be wondering what that meant...just don't say anything and see how long it takes someone to figure it out. You could do it in conjunction with Amber's ideas.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but maybe you could buy one of those 2-seater strollers (one seat for your daughter and one for the new baby)? You could wrap it/put a big bow on it and maybe even put a "RESERVED" sign on the baby seat?

Do a cookie basket, (I did this with the first one) you can order them online or make them. If you make them, there is a store in Arlington (I think it is off Little road and I20) that has beby shaped cookie cutters. Or for a little more money, go to www.ediblearrangements.com. They are dipped fruit baskets. To tell my husband of our 3rd, I found out the Friday before Fathersday, so I had the sono picture and put it in a fathersday card, I signed the card from Brennth, Aeris and Baby Swaim. He looked at me and was shocked. We werent trying for #3. For the grand parents, I sent cards with pictures of the other 2 and the sono in between. Then waited for the calls.

ok, mine isn't so creative. However the way I told my husband is I drew him a picture of Him, me, my daughter and a baby. I titled the fax. Guess what!
I really like the Halloween idea though. Another thing you could do is have a get together and make it a mystery dinner night. Leave clues for them to figure out. Or send an email with a poem or a crossword puzzle and have them guess that way.

After visiting the doctor I scanned the sonogram picture into the computer and emailed the picture out to all the family. It was a fun surprise and you get too see who actually checks their email. Good luck and congratulations!

K.,
The way I told my husband, was I went to the store and bought stuff to make chocolate covered strawberries (his favorite), a little stuffed animal with hearts on it, a few 'I love you' balloons, and a small gift bag for the stuffed animal. When he was watching tv and not really paying attention, I brought him the chocolate covered strawberries, put the stuffed animal (which was hugging the 'possitive' pregnancy test) in the gift bag, wrapped some of the strings to the balloons around the little animal and brought it too him. When he opened it he just asked 'what does this mean'and I said SURPRISE! LOL.
