Creative Way to Announce Pregnancy

We are in the process of trying to conceive our third child and call it wishful thinking, but I am already thinking ahead to announcing the new addition to our family members. Since this will most likely be the last grandchild (#12) for my parents, I wanted to do something a little more creative. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I ended up going with the dozen egg idea. We are leaving on Friday to visit my parents in Florida so it is perfect timing! I had each of the 11 neices and nephews paint a wooden egg with their name on it and mail them to me (they live in NJ, TX, and FL). Then on the 12th egg, I painted it half pink and half blue and put a white question mark. I am planning on putting them in an egg carton and placing them in my parents fridge in Florida and then coming up with some way of getting her to find them! I wanted to get all the kids involved and this was a great way! This way they will always have the eggs for Easter and our baby #3 is due around Easter of next year! Thanks for the great ideas!

One cute thing I had heard was a couple had a sonogram done - didn't find out what gender the baby was - but had the doctor write it on a card and put in a sealed envelope. Then the couple invited their family to dinner and announced it then - and later they opened the card and all found out what the baby was together. Good Luck!!

My girlfriend made a DVD in addition to having an e-announcement that combined both photos and videos. It was about 3 minutes long, but a real tearjerker. The lady that made it for her has a website called www.makethemcryproductions.com

i hope that helps!

Send emails to the people you are announcing to with pictures of your boys holding a poster that says...Guess what we're getting for (closest holliday to due date)...and then send another picture saying a new baby.

Other suggestion. Buy blank puzzles at the craft store and write on them the announcement in a rhymy way and then mail them out to family. They have to put the puzzle together to get the message

If this would be number 12 for the grandparents I would buy a dozen eggs and hardboil them. I would write the name of each of the 11 grandchildren on an egg and the last I would put a big question mark on it. Then give them the eggs tied up with a bow. Encourage them to open them and they will notice all their granchildren's names as well as the question mark. I suggest hard boiling in case they get dropped.

It is creative and different, they'll never expect it with a dozen eggs.

I am pregnant with my first baby. I wanted to do something a little special to tell my family and especially my parents. I had someone that I know that does embroidery work get two baby bibs. On one of them she put I Love my Mama then a little smaller under it she she put baby S.. She did another one that said I Love my Papa then also under it put Baby S.. It happen to be my mothers birthday so I put her present in a box and under it put both of the bibs with the one for her first. All of my family was there watching her open her presents. She opened her gift pulled her present out then picked up the bibs. It took her a second to realize what it was for but once she saw Baby S. on the bottom she let out a huge gasp and jumped up with her head spinning around trying to find me. She was crying and ran over and gave me a big hug. She was so excited. It was such a priceless moment for me because none of my family new about it and was all surprised at the same time. Especially my mom and dad. ____@____.com

My cousin had the letters that spell baby cut out (I think they were those letters that you would see on toy wooden blocks) They may sell them at some craft store. Or you could use scrabble looking letters. The card with all the loose letters in there said "Am I going to have to spell it out for you?"
I announced my pregnancy to my parents on Mother's Day and sent a nice framed picture of our sonogram. It didn't take my mom too long to figure it out. Plus, it was the first grand-child on both sides, so I sent both mom's a Happy Grandmother's Day card.

Congrats! :) When I found out I was pregnant I scanned in the ultrasound picture and uploaded it to http://www.birthdayalarm.com/. There I created an e-card and it sent it out to family and friends.

One of my friends bought a t-shirt and created her own 'iron on patch' (you can get them at target) - it said "Knocked Up!" She wore it to work (we have a very casual work environment) - but that is how she 'told' family and friends. I thought it was a great idea!!!!

Good Luck! Let us know what you decide on!

Hi J.,
I was going to suggest the fortune cookie idea...invite the family out with you to a chinese place and have the server in on it and handout the SPECIAL cookies to your family. We're not even trying for #2 yet, but I've already got it picked out how we're going to announce it! HAHA OR, you could take my #2 idea...

M&M's can make you personalized candies. My cousin had them at her sweet 16 and it was a hit. They were in her colors of the party (pink, silver & black) and they said "Happy 16 Amanda" & "Sweet 16". You could have them say "Is it a boy?" on the blues ones and "Is it a girl?" on the pink ones! Just a thought!! I hope none of my family stumbles upon my ideas! LOL

Hi, I used preemie diapers as invitations to my youngest's baby shower, and I thought you could just adapt them to announcing your baby to the world. I looked up a font on Word that I liked, typed out what I wanted the invitation to say, printed it out. Since I have a fairly good hand at writing, I then used a marker and wrote out each individual diaper by hand in that font. Everyone loved it and brought their invitations to the shower. Most thought I had had them professionally printed that way, too! It was a success!
