Creative Christmas Gifts

Hello ladies! I am trying to get organized for Christmas this year (since I will be planning a 1st b'day party and travelling across the country… all Christmas week!). So I am looking for easy but creative ideas for neighbor/teacher/etc gifts that I could make ahead of time. In the past I had done jars of soup with the recipe attached, homemade dried fruit, paper lilies in a cute little container and homemade rubs for cooking. I am looking for something I could do ahead of time and have ready to go. I really don't want to be cooking or baking right before I deliver the gift. I would like to keep it healthy and unique...I love all the holiday goodies but I feel like everyone gives food. Any ideas would be very much appreciated!!

One year my son and I made scented bath salts. It was super easy.
You use a mixture of kosher salt and epsom salts. You use food coloring to make different colors and add drops of scented oils. We got ours from a health food store.
We put them in jars with pretty fabric on top and tied ribbon around the rim of the jars.
Everyone liked it and used it.

You can make it plenty ahead of time. No cooking involved. It was a fairly simple project and we had fun doing it.

have you heard of the flece blankets that you can do. They are so easy. takes about an hour. You go to Joanns and find some really decent patterns that are a good price. about 1 1/2 yards of a print and 1 1/2 yard of a solid and you cut around the edges of the blanket and tye knots. makes a beautiful and inexpensive gift. About $15 if you get a good deal. Email me if you don't understand and I will explain in more detail .

Good luck

I think you can do food that is not actually prepared. I found a recipe for mulling spices in a magazine one year that I thought was great--you purchase everything for several pouches, I believe you use some kind of choosecloth for the spices once they are sorted and mixed, and you can attach it with the directions and a bottle of cider or wine, depending on the family (or they can find their own). My husband loves to make mulled wine and cider in the winter so for us this is a really fun thing to get. You can probably find several gift "recipe" versions online and it would be very festive and affordable.

Dumb typo: Cheesecloth!!! =)

I have been going to Bath and Body Works during their sales throughout the holidays. I buy for multiple teachers and the bus drivers. They have awesome deals on antibacterial hand sanitizers, pocket size, also soaps, lotions and even the wallflowers. I am a B&BW fanatic, so I buy for them and me :) I also buy some small chocolates, candy canes, and bake off a few packages of premade cookies, unless I feel like going all out and have time, then I make homemade. That makes up a great gift bag and you don't have to spend too much!

I love the etched glass plate a friend made for us one year with our last name on it. You can get glass etching cream at a craft store. It is like $20 at Walmart but I hear that a little goes a long way. Then get inexpensive glass plates or other dishes (I've seen some at dollar stores). Fill with homemade or store bought goodies.

One year we did painted glass ornaments. You take the clear glass ball ornaments and drizzle paint inside them and swirl. They are all different and all beautiful. We swirled 2 or 3 colors in each ball - my favorite were the plum and silver - they were soo pretty.

Another year we did those stretchy gloves with a candy cane for everyone.

We've also gone to Oriental Trading and bought the inexpensive ornaments and put them with a home made card.

A mug with a candy cane and hot cocoa is always good...

A collage of your children is fun, too.

YMMV
