Crayons in Washing Machine and dryer...Help!

My husband put my daughter's school uniform in the washing machine with a red and blue crayon in her pocket. I have managed to get it out of most of that load of laundry, but it keeps appearing in the washing machine and the dryer when I least expect it. I have taken it apart and don't see where it is hiding. Has anyone ever had this problem? It is staining my clothes and has actually stained the inside of my dryer. When I scrub the dryer, it doesn't seem to come off, so I don't think it is those stains that it is coming from. Not sure if this is a mom question or a repairman's question. Thought I would try.
Thanks,
L.

Hey there L.,

Eeek! I think most Moms have been through this one time or another. Hee hee! I recently started shopping with an online store that has great products that took the crayon right out of our clothing!! It was amazing. I love the products but I wasn't sure that it would take out crayon! Email me and I'll give you the details.

Good luck to you!

The crayon won't come off while it is cold. Try Goo Gone while it is cold. The heat is probably transfering it to the clothes. I had a problem with ink from a pen and had to use scouring powder. So I recommend that or Goo Gone and then wiping it down with vinegar to get the residue from the cleaner.

I did the crayon in the dryer thing - it didn't get on my dryer like you're explaining, but when I was researching how to get it out of the clothes, I read that WD40 gets it off of the washer/dryer. I do believe that you'll have to run a wash cycle or 2 before putting a load of laundry in and some rags or something like that through the dryer

You can try rubbing alcohol on the dryer. It smelled while doing it but worked for me. As for the washer, you can try running an empty cycle with bleach a few times. Not really sure if it'll work but worth a try! Good luck.

Hi L.,
It's kind of funny hearing this from someone else.. My husband did the SAME thing last year. My son loves to put things in his pockets, still to this day!!
To make a long story short - we had the same problem too. We had blue crayon everywhere.. I couldn't save half of the laundry that was in the washer, Tried everything to get it out.. nothing. The dryer was stained blue as well.. Like you I tried scrubing it. We even got out the magic eraser - that worked for the most part, but our dryer is still blue inside. I was worried that with the heat, would it come off on all the laundry? It's been a year - no stains, just a blue dryer!! :)
Good Luck!
