Crayon on the Wall

Hello there, how are you? MAGIC ERASERS DO WORK! they ARE MAGIC!!! They are the best. I love so much. I highly recommend them!

The magic erasers work, but you have to watch them with certain paint.I would try a small area at first with the magic eraser. I have used them on our walls to erase my daughter's "artwork". I only had a problem with the paint in one room of our house.

Try Goo G One, I got mine at Linens N things. It takes grease, crayon, markers, tar ect off any surface. A must have for any home with kids!!!

My son did the same thing. White walls, red crayon. Magic eraser got it off completely!!

The best thing I have seen (recommended on crayola's website)...is wd-40. It melts it right off the wall...no scrubbing at all. It will leave an oily film on the wall that you can then wash off with a little soapy water.

As a landlord, I have seen crayon'd walls and it works great! and waaayy cheaper than the magic erasers.

Magic erasers are truly magic but only on white walls!

Magic erasers do work really well, but you might want to test it a little before going at the whole stain. Sometimes, depending on the type of paint and the number of coats, it can take off the paint as well. I've never had a problem with that happening but my brother has.

I have not had much luck with the magic erasers but when you have crayon on the walls use a hair dryer. It melts the way and then you can wipe away. Maybe with a combonation of both it will look good as new. But the hair dryer WORKS!!

magic eraser or goo-gone. I love goo-gone, it is a liquid that can be used for scuffs, gum, tar etc on the floor, walls. I have a 22 month old son also & I just use it when he isn't around & then rinse the area with a bit of water. I've been using it for years & love it - even for gummy price tags, better than nail polish remover & not oily.

Magic erasers are great for alot of things. I have not personally tried them on crayon but it would definitely be worth a try.

Hi K.. I use Sol-u-Mel from Melaleuca. I would stay away from the Magic Erasers. They have harmful chemicals that could burn his skin or yours. Also, I learned the hard way, but now I only purchase washable crayons and markers for my children. Good luck.

Try a baby wipe. They have been saviors for getting stains out of clothes and rugs for me.

My 2-year old son recently colored on the walls (Christmas Day), but since we bought Crayola washable crayons, I just washed the walls with a sponge and it came right off. If you have normal crayons, then yes, the Mr. Clean Magic eraser should clean it up. The eraser will get smaller the more you rub it, but just wet it down when it gets dry.

As for preventing the problem in the future, you could try keeping the crayons in a place where he can't get to them and pull them out at a time when he can color with mommy to help make his coloring time special. My son tells me he wants to color, and I pull out the bag with the coloring books and crayons and he sits at a table and colors in front of me or with me.

When he gets a little older, you might try putting up a small chalk board on his wall or using the chalkboard paint and apply it directly to the wall so he will have a place to write on the walls. Some parents don't like to do that because they think it encourages kids to write on the walls...every parent has different feelings on this. I wouldn't do it with a dry erase board though, because if he gets dry erase markers on the wall, it won't come off. At least chalk wipes off with a damp sponge.

When my son turned 1, another mom told me she only let her little one color while he was in the high chair to contain the mess, so we did that with our son until he turned 2. Maybe that will work with number 2! :o) Good luck!

Oh my goodness - the magic erasers are the best thing ever created. They will take crayon pencil and even marker off the wall. I don't know how I ever lived without those, microfiber cloths, the tide pen or the clorox bleach pen!

Yes the Magic erasers really works. It even works on permanent marker you just have to use a little bit of elbow grease. It really does work on just about anything.

Oh my the magic eraser is wonderful. It takes crayon off of everything. Its one thing every mother should have in her home.

magic eraser worked for me, although it is labor intensive. It is ok for a little crayon mark, but if you are trying to clean a whole mural.....
When my boys were 2 and 4 we moved into a farm house and the kids bedroom has antique wall paper that I plan on restauring some day. To protect it I bought a roll of packing paper and ran it from the basebord up to kids level along all the walls of their bedroom. This way they can draw all they want and their bedroom is a real work of art. When they get old enough to know better (does that ever happen?) the paper can come down and what ever was behind it will have been protected Good luck!

My 2 y o is a wall artist, too. I use Goo Gone in a spray bottle and it works like magic. A little seems to go a long way...One spray on the area and wipe with a towel. Gone! And, it doesn't react with the wall paint--just the markings. Works with crayons, markers, and even on clothes, too! Good Luck!

We've had lots of crayon mishaps here! The magic eraser is AWESOME!!! Took it off of EVERYTHING!!!!

I've used them on our walls and ours are not white, they are whithish-purple. They work great.

My name is Susan. I am a mom of a very handsome 15 year old young man. At two he was also very artistic. Magic erasers do really work. I clean private homes every day and I would not be without one. You may want to make sure your paint is scrubbable,(satin,eggshell,semi-gloss, or high-gloss). Some of the flat paints may scrub off while trying to remove the crayon. Also, My son at two decided it wasn't as much fun to scrub the wall as it was to color it. I got him involved in the clean up, after that he decided to use paper when artistically inspired. Magic erasers also work wonders for dirty bathtubs without all the harsh chemicals. Good Luck with your little blessings.

WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and
wipe with a clean rag.

I haven't had to try this myself, but a fried of mine with four children told me that shampoo will take crayon off of walls really well.

WD 40 is great to keep around for a childs drawings on the walls. It will take off crayon, permenant marker, pencil, pen and regular marker. With my 5 year old it is a must keep for any "accidents" that happen on the walls or doors. As for the magic eraser a friend of mine has used it and says it works but I dont think she used it for removing any type of marker or crayon. Good Luck.

The magic erasers are incredible. They will get the crayon off. If your paint is new be careful about taking the paint off. I use the magic erasers for everything because it is so easy. Of course, be careful not to allow your child to get a hold of it.

magic eraser did work on my kids artwork.......on my walls. There are some markers or crayons that take a little more muscle than others though....Good Luck

K., please be careful if you use Magic Erasers or any copycats, I just got a warning from a friend about possible chemical burns on little one's skin from them. The contain a very caustic chemical and can do serious damage, enough to require a trip to the emergency room. My friend's e-mail contained pictures of a little guy with terrible burns on his face and arms. Mom let him help her, not knowing how dangerous they were. My friend works at children's Hospital in Pgh. If you use them, keep them away from your child!

Magic Erasers work wonders! About 2 months after we moved into our brand new home, my neighbor came over with her 2 year-old son. He walked out of the room for a few minutes and when we discovered him, he had hunted down a marker from who knows where (not the washable kind) and colored all over the walls and door of my office! I grabbed the Magic Eraser and cleaned it right off - completely! I have always had better luck using them wet than dry. Good luck!

My walls are textured and the Magic Eraser disintegrates and takes the paint off before the crayon comes off. Someone warned about letting kids use it and I have seen a picture of a boy with the red face and hands from being burned by them. I have heard that white toothpaste will take crayon and marker off the wall, but I haven't tried it yet.

I am not sure where we bought it but we have used a product called Crayon-a-gone. You dont have to put much effort into it either. I actually need another bottle myself! Best of Luck...I have my own "Picaso" here too!

Magic erasers do a great job!

Magic Erasers are good for a little bit here and there. I recently found a new solution also. Pine-Sol Lemon scent cleaner. I found this out when cleaning the walls with the pine sol. Its cheaper than magic erasers and alot easier on the hands. no scrubbing involved.

hi K., Magic erasers are the best things sinced cellpones and the internet!! They clean everything off of anything...at least I haven't been disapointed yet! FYI: never buy any art supplies that aren't washable...and stay as far away from finger paints as you can! Good luck & best wishes

I try to do things organically when possible, and I think when little ones are in the household it is even more crucial. Try toothpaste, not gel, rub & wipe. You could try baking soda too, make a paste with it, rub & wipe.

We use magic erasers all the time. They take everything off the walls, floors, windows, you name it. My husband loves them so much he makes sure they are on my grocery list every week! He can tell you how much they are at 3 of our local grocery stores! I find it hard to believe I made it through my first child without them. They are wonderful.

Magic Eraser does work well. I use it all the time everywhere in my house including crayon on the wall. It has removed so many things that I never thought would come off. The only caution I would tell you is not to let your little one help clean up the mess with a magice eraser. If you want to have him/her help you, just give them a regular rag. I have been told by a friend that she read an article that a woman was letting her child help her clean up the mess and apparently he thought it would be funny to clean himself up as well, so he started scrubbing his little cheeks. Later his cheeks turned bright red. She rushed him to the hospital to find out that he hand chemical burns from the use of the magic eraser. I don't know how true this story is, but I'm not willing to find out. When I have my 5 year old son help me clean up, he gets a plain old rag. I obviously go over the area he was "cleaning".
